Darn Dog!

I was sitting in the living room in my comfy chair reading the other night with the window's open so the cool night air could flow around me. It was a really good book, so I wasn't really paying much attention to the beautiful night sounds going on just outside the window...that is, until I heard IT.

The call of the whip-poor-will...that somewhat lonely sound I always loved listening to when I was growing up.  I used to sit on the edge of my bed with my arms folded on the window sill and my head almost touching the screen, just listening to the night sounds when I was a teenager.   I'd have sat there for hours if I could have stayed awake, especially if the whip-poor-will's were out.

I always heard them at a distance when I was growing up though...but the other night, it sounded like it was right outside our house...I didn't have to almost be hanging out the window to hear it really well.

I laid the book on my chest, as I lay back in my recliner and winged my way back to the past in my mind, remembering my childhood and my love of the whip-poor-will's call. I couldn't believe how close it was...and wished it would come around that close more often.  I've heard them several times since we moved back here to Missouri (although not THAT close)...listening to them was one thing I missed, living in Nebraska, cause I just didn't hear them there...not sure if they were there somewhere, but if they were they must not have been on OUR farm.  LOL

Just as I was sinking into the peaceful comfort it brought with it the other night, I heard Yani start barking...the whip-poor-will call stopped, so Yani stopped barking...then it started up again, and so did Yani. That was the last I heard of that wonderful close whip-poor-will...Yani managed to chase it away, and I just wanted to go out and wring her neck! LOL

 Darn Dog!!

She did redeem herself the next morning though...by protecting the chickens from a fox that was wanting to have a chicken feast...wish she would kill that darn fox, before it ends up getting all the stupid chickens that like to wander to far out!   We've lost a few chickens to it...hopefully we don't end up loosing as many as my parents did this spring to one, or we won't have any chickens left!  LOL

Yani really IS a good dog...not as happy since we got rid of the goats, but still doing her job and protecting our livestock as much as possible!  So...guess she is good to have around, even if she chases off the closest whip-poor-will I've ever heard!  LOL

Won another kit!

I haven't been doing much scrapping on the weekends lately, but couldn't resist playing this morning, as I'd like to be as caught up on this years photos by my birthday as possible, AND I won another kit so wanted to play with it since I had time.

I just LOVE the colors in this kit, they are good for my farm photos and are pretty besides. I also love the doily, which while it may not be "farm animalish" I had to use it anyway. LOL

The first two layouts are of the cows and dogs one evening last month. It was a beautiful Tranquil evening out, and I enjoyed some extra time with the animals before it got dark. I do love spending time with the animals, it's so peaceful and entertaining.

The dogs were in fine form, playing with each other, and the pups (these are the last photos I got of them before they left) were really interested in Autumn who wasn't thrilled with the extra attention. The cows came down close to the fence, where I was standing to they could be with us to, and I watched the sun go down behind the apple blossoms...which I haven't scrapped yet. LOL A perfect spring evening. :)

This 3rd LO is Shadow and Tractor Buddy under the apple tree, with the bees buzzing overhead. Shadow is looking up at one buzzing around...and of course Tractor Buddy is being the lovable pest that she always is.

The last LO shows a baby apricot...I know it may be silly, but I had to scrap that, since it's the first time I've actually seen one growing on our trees. *giggle* After pretty much giving up on the trees, I was surprised and excited to find them this year. I haven't been back over to check on them...and really should get over there, and keep an eye on them. Life just seems to keep busy, and I forget about some of the things I want or need to do.

I know a lot of you probably didn't need an explanation for the photos since some of them have been on my blog before, but for those who may show up without having seen them...I had to explain. Besides it helps fill in the space between the LO's, since I don't really have much of interest to add to this post, but wanted to post the LO's, since Kate was nice enough to let me win it. LOL

I haven't really had time to get into any other mischief yet, so don't have anything else to post. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

On a roll this morning!

As you can see I was on a roll this morning with scrapping! I'm loving this kit, although I'll probably move on to another kit in the morning...I can always revisit this one later. :)

The first photo shows Shadow watching one of the kids jumping around and playing. I thought it was cute how interested he looked, and it was entertaining to watch both of them.

The 2nd LO is the dogs and Tractor Buddy bugging DH as he was laying in the pasture soaking up some of the sun and resting. If he gets down on their level they feel he is fair game, and descend on him in droves. LOL

The last two layouts are the pups with Tractor Buddy.

I don't know how I managed to scrap 4 pages by 10 AM this morning, I did get up before 7, but that happens quit a bit, and I don't manage that many layouts. Maybe it's just that I was feeling extra inspired with the kit. I sure had fun with it anyway, even if the layouts look a little like some I've done before, except with different elements. LOL

A little over a week ago, I ordered some halters from someone online, because we wanted different colors for the different cows we have. The only color we can get in town is black...and while I do like some things black, I really prefer some color in my life.

So since Daisy is "my" cow...or least she was gotten for my birthday because I wanted more milk, I decided she needed to have a purple halter. (duh!) Course then I had to let DH choose a color for Mabel, and of course he choose Red...his favorite color. LOL We also got one for Belle, although haven't gotten it on her yet, and we picked out a green for her. Had I known what "Kelly" Green was, I would probably have chosen that, but since I didn't (at the time) I let DH pick the shade of green, and he choose Hunter Green. Now the fun will be getting it on Belle, since she doesn't go into the stanchion it will be much harder getting it on her than it was the other two. LOL

We both were really surprised at how easy it was to get it on Mabel, she hasn't had one on since we got her, but we have put the rope halter on her a time or two, and that wasn't usually real easy. The halter wasn't a problem though, so DH thought maybe she used to have one of those she wore all the time. The black halter that Daisy had on till now, we will keep for an extra one, in case something happens to one of the new ones...or in case we happen to be able to get another cow...we can dream anyway. *giggle*

Well I better stop rambling and get busy! Gotta go figure out how to roast chili peppers for a new dish I wanna try. Have a great day! :)

End of a busy week!

Here is a couple LO's I did, while trying to catch up on this months photos...didn't get to far, but least I'm into March already, so who knows, maybe I can at least keep up within a month, although I'd really like to do better than that. LOL

Both of these Lo's show the puppies, the 2nd one is where Hobo wanted to rest, and Lady didn't, so he just lay down across her, so she couldn't get up and pounce on him again. Yes I kinda miss them...but I've been to busy to miss them much, so that's a plus I guess!! LOL

I just thought I'd mention DH blogged about the cows getting out the other night too, and since he is way better at writing a story down, I thought I'd link to it, in case you care to go read his version. I would have done that to begin with, since my post was long enough without that, but he hadn't posted it yet. LOL Anyway, you can read it here.

This has been one busy week around here, I'm glad its about over! I think I've been in the kitchen for one reason or another for most of it too. I hope that stops soon...at least unless I'm canning. LOL With the cheese I've been making I finally decided I wanted to use it for more than just on Potatoes or Broccoli, or chili, (or anything else I am not remembering right now, that we like to use it on) so I made some lasagna and pizza today with it.

We had pizza tonight, and it was so yummy!! I did it a little different than I usually do, it actually had two different crusts on it, as I was trying out two different recipe's for crust to find out which we liked better, and I added a little to the sauce I usually use. The crust I usually make, is my Mom's recipe, and while we really like it, I wanted to find one that would raise more cause we like a thicker crust. Even if I try to make hers thicker, I didn't have good luck with it actually being thick like I like...so I went looking for another one. The one we liked is here...although I did add a little whole wheat flour, not as much as I should have, but I didn't have time to grind any more. Now we can trade back and forth, depending on if we want thick or thin!! :) The nice thing about it is, we have leftover pizza for a meal this weekend!! :)

I also made some lasagna, which we will eat this weekend. I don't know when the last time was that I made that...not sure if I ever have, but if I have, it's been YEARS. We both love pasta, but we don't have it real often, cause of the carbs. Usually if we have pasta we have spaghetti cause I have always LOVED it. However, with having all this cheese I finally decided I had to make some lasagna.

Once I was done stacking all the layers I had some noodles left, but no meat for them...so I mixed up the homemade dry cottage cheese, some homemade shredded mozzarella, an egg or two to hold them together, salt, pepper and parsley in a bowl. Then I rolled the cheese mixture up in the left over noodles and poured sauce over them and baked them in the oven for a half hour for lunch. YUM!! It was so good, & DH really loved it, (course he loves most things) and now I guess I'll have to make it again. I just love cheese stuffed pasta! I so didn't need to find another "pasta" dish I loved. *giggle*

Thankfully, with all the cooking I did this week, I won't have to do much this weekend! Yippee!! I love not having to cook much on the weekend. Maybe, if it doesn't rain all weekend, I can actually go outside some...I've not been out as much as I would have liked this week, with being busy. I kinda forget to go most of the time, if I'm busy doing other things...and I really should get some fresh air a little more often.

Last night...or should I say early this morning, I was woke up by thunder, I hate that, cause then I couldn't go right back to sleep. LOL We got a nice rain, so I guess I shouldn't complain. We may get more tonight or tomorrow...if we do, hopefully it won't be an all day affair, so I can enjoy my peaceful Saturday afternoon by going outside some.

Bye-Bye Babies

Wow, we have had a busy couple of days here. This afternoon these two sweetie's went to their new home. I'm so happy a really nice young couple took both of them, so they will have each other to play with. DH didn't put the ad on craigslist about them till last night, and it got flagged by some busy body, who doesn't like seeing dogs on the list, so he had to reinsert it this morning. I'm glad they went quickly though, cause that way I don't have to keep wishing we were keeping them. Photo is a not so good one I took the other night, when they were playing as it was getting to dark to take photos. LOL

I'm happy with the home they will have though, cause they seemed like really nice people, and they will be guarding other animals, instead of just being a pet...like at least one of the others ones sounded like they would be. Nothing wrong having them for pets...but they ARE a working dog, and I think they are happy having other animals around.

Yesterday we had to take the two goat kids up to the sale barn, because the Mom died over the weekend. I think she got gored by another goat (we must have a "mean to other goats", goat...that needs an attitude adjustment, but since we don't know just WHO did it, we can't! LOL). Since the babies were males, we didn't want to do the bottle feeding, cause we would just end up taking them to the sale barn later anyway...so we took them to the sale that they had yesterday. I so wish they had been girls, so we could have kept them, they were so cute, and being bottle fed they are SO friendly.

Since we had decided to sell the pups, we didn't need the money we had saved to "fix" them with, so I took a little of it and we went and did a little extra shopping after dropping the kids (goats) off. It's just a little further to get to the south shopping center in Lincoln, and I wanted to get a mesh colander that I had seen but couldn't afford when last we were shopping. I got one just like this one, except for it didn't say kitchen aid on it, it says Farberware, and was 5 bucks cheaper...although still rather expensive to my way of thinking. LOL

I have two other nice colanders, but making the cottage cheese wasn't working as well with them, cause the holes were bigger, and some of the cheese would go through them and get wasted. I made some cheese today, and it worked lots better...there was a tiny bit that went through, but not much. Cleaning it isn't AS easy, but with a brush and running water over it, I didn't have to scrub to much to get what cheese was stuck in the mesh out. This colander is rectangle, with a couple handles that will expand, so if I want, I can expand them and hang it on the sink to drain. As I mentioned before, I thought it was kinda expensive (I'm a cheap skate remember!) but with making cheese several times a week it's worth it to me. :)

Between being gone all afternoon yesterday, cleaning and making butter, cheese & some more lotion bars today...along with spending part of the afternoon outside helping move the goats and Belle and Chuck into the summer pasture and talking with the people who came and got the dogs I've not had enough time to get everything done that I wanted to. I did throw a couple layouts together early this morning but decided not to post them, as they weren't fantastic...or for one of the Lady's I do LO's for...so I didn't figure I'd spend the time uploading them. LOL

Oh I had to laugh at Mabel and Daisy today, we had them out on the driveway for a little bit, till we got the call that the people were coming to look at the puppies and so we had to put them back in their pasture...and open the driveway again. They were NOT happy cows, they mooed and walked the fence, looking at us with those accusing eyes. Mabel doesn't usually moo much, but I heard her voice her displeasure today! *giggle* Poor things. They were happy when we opened it back up so they could go out there, once the people left...although it wasn't to long before they had to be rounded up for milking. But least they can go back out there, once they are through in the barn.

I think they will be REALLY happy, when DH gets a portable stanchion built, so they can go over to the summer pasture too. LOL My Dad gave us one that was my Grandpa's I think...just the metal stanchion part, so hopefully it won't take to long for DH to build a little movable building for it to go in, and get it so we can milk the cows in other pastures. So much to do....so little time!

Ok, just wanted to mention that the puppies are gone, and touch on a few highlights of the last couple days! Better get going and get a few things done before bedtime. I keep thinking that things will get back to normal and I'll have more scrapping time, but I think I've been thinking that for several months...maybe even a year, and I still seem to keep busy doing this or that, and not getting near enough scrapping done. *sigh* Maybe I'm just slow at most everything I do. I think I need to start thinking that this is the NEW normal, and just figure I won't have time to scrap as much, and be thankful if I can every week....instead of every day like I used to. LOL

It's cooler again.

I wanted a little color for these two layouts, cause of the photos being so brown...I'm just hoping the color isn't to distracting. LOL Plus I was in a hurry today, wanted to get a couple LO's done, but...didn't have time to fiddle like usual. As it is, I'm kinda running behind. So remembering that Blushbutter had a cluster pack in her store, and figuring it would add the color I needed, I grabbed it, and this is what I came up with...I left the clusters big, and let them hang off the pages for the most part, so I just had a boarder. Simple, yet it doesn't look like a simple page...and the best part is the cool clusters aren't real expensive! :)

We got some rain finally!! I sure thought it was going to keep going around us, but yesterday afternoon it finally built back up and hit us. Not sure how much we got, but it rained softly into the night, so I'm sure it's enough for now. Things are really looking green now, the trees are greening up, and we have blooms on the apple tree now too. It is cooler today, since the rain moved through, but that's ok, I like wearing a jacket, cause that means it's not TOO hot...or so cold as to need a coat. LOL The wind makes it a little chilly, but it's still a beautiful day out there!

I gotta run, as I have several things I need to do today. Will have to post these around to the galleries later on, once I get other things done. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Dogs & Cream Rambles

I got another couple pages done today, this time with this years photos from February...as you can see I'm behind again on this years photos. LOL

The first LO is of Yani and her puppies, and I just love how it turned out! Love the browns and those orange flowers in this kit. Browns work well for our farm photos I think...and yes I know I've said that before. *giggle* The 2nd LO is a photo of my DH kinda "sitting" on Annie (one of the kinder goats) although he wasn't putting his full weight on her. :)

Speaking of the dogs, we are considering getting rid of the two puppies we kept after all. I hate to, cause they are darling, but we have revised how we have the goats, with all the losses we had in the last year, along with the addition of the cows, so don't really need two sets of guard dogs, as the cows can probably take care of themselves...and besides Shadow gets out of our fences, so he might guard them too.

We were talking about it yesterday, and feel it's a little silly to have them now that the goats are all together. *sigh* Wish we would have decided that a month ago, when we were getting rid of the others, so we didn't get a little more attached to these. Lady especially is a sweetheart, and I'll be sad to see her go...but how many dogs do two people need....or maybe I should ask how many dogs do a small herd of goats need. For sure not 4 of them...3 is probably still to many, if we would decide we just can't get rid of Lady, but it's not quite as silly as four. LOL So Hobo is for sure probably going to find a new home, and I'm sure Lady will too, once I can wrap my mind around the idea, although I'd sure be happier if they would go to the same home together, but kinda doubt that will happen. *cry*

On a better note, we used the cream separator my Dad gave us for the first time yesterday. We aren't getting enough milk yet to really use it much, but when Daisy has her baby we are hoping the milk supply jumps, so maybe we will be able to use the separator every day (if we need the cream anyway). We just wanted to try it out, to make sure it worked good. If you look close at the photo above, you can see the difference in color between the cream and the milk. It's harder to see in the photo, but it was sure noticeable to us, as we were doing it. The cream is not pure white, but instead a nice creamy color...just beautiful! :) If you want to see DH actually cranking it, you can go see a photo on flicker here.

Because Mabel doesn't give us all that much milk, we have to put the milk in the fridge, and wait till we get several gallons to make it worth using the separator...which ties up all the room in the fridge. I'd much rather run it through the separator if we are going to, and make whatever cheese that day that I want...and give the animals the leftovers, than have it always sitting in the fridge, which is one reason I usually just skim the cream off by hand, so I don't have to have quite so much milk in there...but that makes it so it's to thin to whip usually if I happen to want some like that.

Course if I start getting to much milk, I am going to want a fridge that I can use just to age cheese in...a small one anyway, but I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it. The chickens may get more milk than they know what to do with, if we get much...course that could save on buying grain too which is a good thing. LOL Good thing Dreaming is free...since I'm not sure if we will get THAT much milk, especially with a calf wanting some too. But it would be nice to have more than we can use, so the animals get it to. :)

Well I better run, have to hang some laundry out, so I can get more started...and have some things I hope to do this afternoon...hopefully. No rain here, well a few drops, but that's about it...seems like when we want it, we don't get it. LOL Oh well, it's really been beautiful here, if you can live with the wind that always seems to blow anyway, so that's a plus. Have a great rest of the week! :)

Playful Lady

Lady sure wanted to play with the cat yesterday. Here she is stretched out trying to get her to play.

When Lady didn't listen, she got it again...only worse. *giggle*


Hobo even decided he was getting out of there, even though she wasn't after him. He had gotten scratched earlier, only not so bad, when Tractor Buddy had been trying to play with him....till he decided to play and got rough. Needless to say Lady got the message the 2nd time and I had to laugh...poor baby, gets scratched and then laughed at.


Later on I saw Lady laying in the shade under a trailer....probably nursing her wounds. *giggle*

Lady and the Hobo

I thought I'd give a pup update, since I have never told you their names. Course mostly that is because it takes us forever to name things, and we just decided on them. This first little one (the girl) we have decided to call Lady. When DH suggested it I liked it so we went with that.

We then set about trying to think of a name for the boy, and the only one that DH suggested that I could live with was Hobo, so we decided to call him that. He can be a little ragtag with that longer hair of his. LOL


Hobo is quite a bit bigger than Lady, but they both still love to play...especially Lady it seems. Usually Lady is the one on top, snapping and snarling, but every once in a while, if Hobo gets tired of playing and wants to rest he will lay across Lady, so she can't move and take a breather.


It's so funny seeing Lady try to squirm out from under her big lug of a brother so she can pounce again. If she can't get away she starts getting mad and cries some, till she manages to get out from under him.

It got up into the 60's today, and as you can see from the pink tongues, the dogs thought it was a little on the warm side...even the puppies were panting. LOL


One thing I've discovered that I have to break Hobo of, is playing with my skirt. Since I love wearing skirts, that's what I wear most of the time, and if I'm out with the animals and there is a breeze, it likes to blow around. That makes it a toy in Hobo's eyes, so he grabs it and tugs. I had to bop him on the nose with my finger today and say "NO!" so he would stop tugging. LOL It IS kinda cute for the first little bit, but after that it isn't. After I bopped him, he went over and "hid" under a couple of pallets and sulked. I thought it was funny so had to get a photo. Poor baby still has to learn what no means. LOL

The puppies are growing fast (still) and enjoyed themselves today with the warmer weather. Not sure how much "fun" they will have the next few days, since it's suppose to rain and even snow. It is starting to green up in areas, but that doesn't mean winter wants to let go of us. LOL

Last puppy left today

This big guy left home day. I couldn't believe how big he had gotten either...guess it's been a few days since I've been out with them. I didn't get any new photos of him, it was snowing (yes I said the S word...the ground was white when I woke up and I'm afraid I moaned a little LOL, thankfully it's all gone now though because it turned to rain which helped melt the snow!) anyway I didn't really want to go out in the snow more than once...and was busy so no new photos of the one that left today. That just leaves us with the two we are keeping!!

I'm so happy we got rid of them so easily, and we made enough money to get the two we are keeping fixed too, although won't do that for another couple months or so. I was a little worried about coming up with that money, and knew we didn't want to leave them unfixed, but thankfully after calling around we found a place that is cheaper than the one in town although not as cheap as what my parents can get theirs fixed for, but that's a bit far to go unless we are going anyway. :)

The friend who was coming over to show DH how to draw blood from our cow, to see if she is with calf couldn't make it today...she had something come up, but hopefully she can make it this weekend. If Mabel IS with calf, she needs to be dried up as she would be due in May I think. I'll miss the milk, but she really hasn't been giving a bunch lately anyway, so I'm REALLY hoping she is just trying to get ready to have her baby...and not that she is just getting tired of giving us milk...although I don't know that she looks any fatter than when we got her, so am kinda doubting that she is, but what do I know about cows...NOTHING. LOL

DH was reading our small town's weekly paper this morning, and saw that a shop that we have in town was having a closing sale and everything was 60% off! It's a shop that is one of those speciality ones, they sold some canned goods, jellies and such...and some other speciality food items and kitchen items...as well as some gifts. Its a cool place, but our town is really two small to support a store like that to my way of thinking (although I've been known to be wrong a time or two LOL). Anyway, we decided to run in and see what all they had, at one time I think I saw some sprouting seeds there so I thought I'd see if they had any since I've been using my sprouter, to give us extra "greens" in these depressing winter months.

It turns out they didn't have any of the alfalfa seeds like I was hoping for, but we did find several things to get...and at 60% off they were a great buy! I got two sets of round cookie cutter things...one straight and one fluted, with 4 sizes per box of each. I don't know that I will use all the different sizes, but for the price I couldn't pass them up. They are nice ones to, not the cheap flimsy kind that I have now. LOL The last time I made biscuits and used one I wished I had some better ones...so grabbed these when I saw them, they were marked 8 bucks...and I got them for just over three, so was really happy! :)

I also got a nice heavy duty LONG whisk that I was wanting for my soap making venture. I didn't know where to find a extra long one, so when I saw the one hanging on the wall at the store today marked 11.99 I just had to have it...especially since I didn't think that was a bad price, but with 60% off that it was a steal. We got some other little things, like a brick of yeast...didn't really need it yet, but it will freeze for when I do, and clear jell for canning fruit for pies but I figured I better stop before I went wild, and made myself leave some things on the shelves. *snicker* I just LOVE a good sale, and don't get to go to, to many of them. Course I don't usually see one out in the real world, that is 60% off either. *giggle*

Thankfully we don't have lots of stores in town, cause if to many had a sale like this, I'd be in trouble. LOL Well better go before I bore you all TOO much, thankfully this busy week is drawing to a close...I've not had time to even think of opening photo shop to scrap this week. Hopefully next week is better...but...well....we will see. :)

Another one leaves the nest

We sold the last little girl today...so just have one more boy left to find a home for! The nice thing about it is she went to a couple who just live a few miles away who seem like really nice people and seem to be like minded (read: "fellow hillbillies who like to scrounge things"). LOL So we may be able to see her now and then, and see how she does growing up. She was the one we almost kept ourselves. :)

I got slowed down on my days work, when they came over this morning, so didn't get some of what I wanted to do done (not that it matters), so I'm going to run, just wanted to post that another one left today! :)

Two less pups

We had to say bye to a couple of the pups today. A lady wanted a little girl, so came to see them and picked out the one above. She was the most shy puppy, and they got worried that she wasn't ready to go out on her own...so they also ended up adopting the black and white boy!! :)


They didn't have the complete fee we were charging for both puppies, but we gave them a cut rate, because I was really happy to see they would have each other for company. I remember how Yani was before we got Shadow...and while I think she was happy I KNOW she was happier to have a playmate. Yani was older when we got her...but taking a puppy from their litter mates and parents can be traumatizing, especially if they are really shy...OK maybe it's just traumatizing for me, but I would have worried a little for a few days. *giggle*

Anyway it's good to have two less of the little hungry fuzz balls. I'm sure Yani will be happy to not have 6 of them wanting a snack. Even though they don't NEED to nurse, they of course still think they do. LOL DH and I are kinda surprised that the little runt (who isn't much of a runt now) didn't go first, as she is the cutest and not near as shy, but I guess the black on the ears of the other was the selling point. :)

On our other Dog front, Rascal hasn't been feeling well the past several days. Not sure if he has a virus or if it's his heart. The last time we took him to the vet cause he wasn't feeling well they said he had a heart problem. He has seemed a little bit better today, least his tail has been wagging more. Before he would come in from outside with his tail curled down and under his body and shuffle back to his bed. Today he came in and actually wagged his tail at me...so hopefully he is on the mend. He also ate some hamburger...which he wouldn't do this weekend. With hamburger being his favorite food, him not eating it is a sure sign he isn't well. Poor baby. :(

Hopefully he continues getting better and back to his normal self. I miss my little cooking buddy.

Decisions, Decisions

I think we finally decided (think being the operative word) which two puppies to keep...these two play together the most, and since the tan one we KNEW we wanted, and the black one was one of the other two we were considering, we will probably keep these two.


Besides the black one seems to be a "go getter", so that is probably a good thing...even though the other one we were considering seems to be a real sweetie too.

It's just to cute and fun, so yep...I think these two are OURS! Besides these two are the two that come up to me the most wanting me to play. Since I haven't been out there as much as I would like playing with them, I like that they like me enough to come for attention when I am.

I looked out the window, just before I went outside to see them, and saw most of them following Mom out into the pasture. Several were clear on the other side of the creek from the barn, so they are getting around quite well now. By the time I got out there, Mom and two or three of the pups were back up by the barn, but I saw some of them still out in the pasture, so went down by that pasture to watch them.

The little girl that is our favorite (the tan one in the above photo's) was up by the barn but heard me giggling at the pups in the pasture and came walking towards me. I saw her so went over to the lot by the barn, so I could pet her. She came all eager for attention, even though the two goats where right there not wanting her around. She didn't let their head-buts faze her, greeted them and then came to me for some attention. She has for sure adopted us...there was no way we could sell her. *giggle*

The black one was the first one I wanted...but didn't know if he would grow up into one we would want to keep as much as another...but I'm glad he has. His little sister, that we were considering is cute and has the shorter hair that I like...but while she is friendly enough, doesn't seem to be as much of a "fighter" as the black one. She doesn't hold her own with him as much as the one we are for sure keeping does.

It's probably a good thing I haven't been able to be out with them as much as I would like to...cause selling them won't be as hard, as the ones we are selling I haven't gotten attached to. If you want to see more puppy photos from today there are more on flicker! :)

In other news...

It's in the 40's today!!!!!!! Yippee!!!!!!! *giggle* We still have snow, but there is a little bit of brown showing now, can't wait for it to be mostly brown, with just a little snow left. Actually I can't wait for the snow to be totally GONE, but I'd settle for mostly gone at this point! They are talking about it being in the 50's this weekend, so I'm sure looking forward to that! Course the Mud is a pain, but...better than the slick icy snow, least it's softer if I fall. LOL

I'm behind on scrapping again...got several layouts I need to do of the puppies, but...this week seems to be busy and I haven't gotten any done. Monday was shopping day...and yesterday and today I had other things to do, we will see if I get any pages done this week or not. LOL The warm temps may entice me into going outside more...which will cut down on how much time I have for the computer...and add more photos to my stack of ones that need scrapped, since I tend to take photos when I'm outside. Maybe I should go play with the puppies WITHOUT my camera! ROFL

Through the Pup's eyes

A note from the cutest pup...written yesterday. *giggle*

It’s a big scary world out in the wide open spaces, beyond the walls we were born in. But it’s also full of interesting sights and smells and bright warm sunshine, least on the good days like today. We spent the afternoon playing just outside our door today…content with Mom & Dad close to watch over us. We were visited by those two nice humans, they are still kinda scary when they get close and move to fast, but we enjoy having them around and are getting used to them.

The one who always seems to like to hide her face with a camera stood taking LOTS of photos of us today, and giggled at our antics. She seems to like it when we play and bark and growl...which makes us want to do it more for her. I played with Dad a lot, and even got to stick my tongue out at him!! *giggle*


I had a lot of fun playing with my siblings too, even though part of the time I almost lost the "fight", I persevered and...


...turned the tables on my brother and came out on top.


All in all, we had a fun day outside, playing, catching some rays...and learning new things about our world. We may still be young, and even unsteady at times, but we are growing like weeds according to the humans, and learning how fun it is to entertain that one with the camera. We finally got tired, so had to lay down and take a nap. Thats when the humans decided it was time to leave.


Speaking of the camera...that silly human took LOTS of photos of us, so she had trouble deciding which to keep and which to reject. There are some more on flicker (19 new puppy photos total), if you want to see more of my siblings and I...and our Dad who let us play with him a lot...oh and one of Mom's belly, when we had a snack attack. Another OKC

Here are a couple pages for another "one kit call"! I know I should really stop going to look at the call thread at dst, but when I'm wanting to get caught up on photos, I can't help but look...and apply when I see something I wouldn't mind using. I have some other things I need to do too, but I'll get back to some of my other projects soon.


The first LO is of course a photo of the puppies sleeping. I just LOVE the alpha she has in this kit, I am not good at using alphas, but sometimes I just have to...and this was one of them. The 2nd LO is our newest goats.

Caught up on this years photos!

I managed to finish up scrapping the photos I had left to scrap so far for this year today! Nothing major special about most of the layouts...but this one was kinda cute. Course that could have something to do with the subject matter. LOL Gotta love puppies! :) Now I can get back to scrapping last years photos...which aren't to far along, as well as try to keep up on this years. Course I also need to sew some skirts, so...I still have my work cut out for me I think. (no pun intended...since my skirts ARE cut out! LOL)

I took these photos a couple days ago, the puppies are starting to try to eat their Mom's hard food, and drinking milk out of a pan (when we have extra to give them) and they are wanting to chew on things...my fingers and shoes if they are available. *giggle* A couple of them also try to come see me, when I go out, instead of me going to see them, although they have been chickening out and going back to the pile of puppies before they get all the way over to me at the gate, but it's still cute. Won't be long and I'll have trouble getting through the gate, without them getting out I'm sure. :)

The Puppy Barks though (and growls at times to), are just darling! We hear them when we are in the barn, or barn yard, and it just makes me laugh with joy. They always sound so cute, when they bark. Ahhh the joy of puppies!

In other, not so joyful, news:

Our oven is doing strange things. We bought the stove brand new when we moved here in 2004...so I have the strange idea that it shouldn't be giving us trouble this soon, but...well things aren't made as well as they used to be I guess. The repair guy just left, and I think he is kinda stumped. Yesterday when I went to bake some chicken for our lunch, it didn't get hot enough after 45 min. to cook the chicken. Today he turned it on, and it got up close to the right temp, at 350...but the hotter we set it, the more off it is. Not sure if the thermostat is going out, or the little glow worm thingy...*giggle* my technical terms show you how much I know about stoves. He took the numbers off the stove, and is going to talk to another guy he works with, and also find out how much parts are for it...so we can decide if we want to repair this one or buy a new "cheaper" stove. (That is of course if it keeps having trouble...which I would assume it will.)

When we bought this one, I spent a little more money (we still had our business then, and so I guess I figured I could get a little fancier one), and got a stove that I could set to come on when I wanted it to. It's a really cool feature, and I do use it some...but would probably have to live without it, the next time we get a stove, since I won't want to spend as much money. Oh well, I just want a stove that works, so I guess putting up with a cheap stove is better than what I have now...if it keeps having trouble and costs to much to fix (although I do hope this one can be fixed without getting TO expensive, cause I like it for the most part).

DH & I are sure it got hotter today than it did yesterday...but that's typical I think. They (they being anything that needs fixed by someone else) like to make us look like idiots...unfortunately, with me, that's not hard to do! *snicker* I think the trouble started when I used the self cleaning cycle last time...which was a couple three weeks ago, so I'll take that to mean I should NEVER clean my oven...that would make me happy, least as long as I didn't open the door! LOL On a positive note...least my oven wasn't horrible when the repair man opened it! *giggle*

Ok, well I gotta go finish up some things. Having the repair man here kinda slowed me down a little. Have a wonderful weekend...can't believe its here again already! :)

***Quick Update: I got the bright idea that I should test the oven out, after I finished a few things around the house, so mixed up a cake mix real fast (that was about the fastest thing I could think to make...especially since supper was in the crockpot, so I wouldn't be using it for that). I ended up having to turn the oven up quite a lot to get it done, so DH called and talked to them again, and they think it's the "glowy thingy"...which isn't as expensive as we thought it could be (PRAISE GOD!!) so it's on order!! Should come in next week, so we will again have a working oven. I thought I was going to have to fire up our wood burning oven...if that cake didn't get done, but thankfully it did. LOL Glad I thought to test it out again with food in the oven, so they could get the parts ordered sooner rather than later, and we could learn the price before having to stew about it all weekend. LOL

Now we have a cake to munch on over the weekend...such a shame I had to "test" the oven out. *giggle*

Rearranging

I have been doing a little bit of scrapping, not as much as I would like, but have finished several pages, along with January's photos. This at least gets me back in the same month we are in, so maybe I can get caught up this month and hopefully stay that way...along with working on last years photos.

I did a little rearranging around here this weekend too so I could get a spot on my desk for my laptop. I had to move the tower for my desktop to the shelf above my desk, in order to fit both of them on my desk, and while it's not ideal, I'm getting used to it, so maybe it will work. I think I need a bigger desk...but hate to even think of that, because this is an old desk that was my Great Aunts (then my Grandparents). So I think I'll stick with it...besides I'm not sure that my little office could handle a much bigger one. LOL

I have also had to rearrange the junk in the cupboards of my office in the last week or so, so I could put the soap making supplies I've been gathering. I tossed some things and consolidated others, to make room. I was hoping for a little more, but wasn't able to get it...so I guess I better not buy much more in the way of soap supplies. *giggle* Probably a good thing I don't have the money to anyway...except for some molds I'm going to get when they come in, in March. :)

I just have to much stuff...but I'm from a long line of pack rats, so don't see that changing. Least most things are put away, or least out of the way, so I don't have the trouble of running into things as I walk around the house. Being the klutz I am, having stuff out in the way all the time doesn't work for me. *giggle*

It's sunny today! Course with the snow on the ground, it still looks cold out there, but its so nice to see the sun!!! We got somewhere around 6 inches I think, maybe a little more. I'm just extremely thankful we didn't get 14 like the last time. :)

More Snow

Well we had a nice break from snow, we still had some of it, but it was at least patchy. Now however we have another 6 inches on the ground, with another 6 or so expected in the next couple of days. It is pretty, especially with it all over the trees and all, I just hope we don't get a bunch, and then in a week or two get more, like we did last time. LOL I shouldn't complain though, cause we did at least get a break, after all it is still winter! This snow photo was taken through my office window (which needs cleaned LOL) cause I was to lazy (and busy) to get bundled up so I could go outside, so it could have been better, but is still kinda neat. :)



Not much else going on, I did get some photos of the puppies playing a couple days ago. They are just starting to, so basically just biting each others noses, but it was still cute. There are more photos of them playing on flicker, although you will have to go down past the newer snow and goat photos.

I've done a few LO's the past couple days, but nothing to share right now, did some catching up in the kitchen, but this afternoon have to make cheese and butter, so gotta get off here without doing more LO's that might be good enough to share. Might being the operative word there. *giggle*

Big Yawn

Ok, after the big yawn of a post yesterday, here is some more photos of our puppies! I just love this one with it yawning big, it's to cute! LOL


I interrupted their nap, so they weren't moving around all that much, or really to happy to be disturbed, but I couldn't help myself, I wanted to get some photos of more than just a pile of puppies, so I had DH hold a couple, so I could.


Here is one walking around, not to steady yet, or really fast, or standing tall...but that will come soon I'm sure.

Yani is sure feeding them well...they are all rolly-polly and growing good. :)

Well I have some catch up to do today, so I figured I'd get these posted early, and get busy! No scrapping for me today, unless it's later this afternoon. LOL I'm also hoping to make a salve, today, that DH uses on Mabel, when she gets sores on her bag (or any other wound the animals get). We had gotten some from a friend, and she was kind enough to tell us how she made it so we could make our own because it really heals them up nicely. So since I've gathered all the herbs now (plus one I'm going to add to it), I better get it made, before DH runs out of what she gave us. Have a great day!
