The lengths my hubby will go to, to keep me laughing!

Galen got attacked by an exploding paint can yesterday...it took FOREVER to get it all off his skin and out of his hair. ROFL I had a good chuckle over it several times yesterday. ;-)) Praise God his glasses prevented it from getting in his eyes! Thankfully we were even able to get it off his glasses, so they are still usable...but even if we hadn't been able to, I'd still be thankful because they saved his eyes. This photo is AFTER he showered the first time...so some was removed, but still had lots to go. LOL

Yesterday, I was at my computer when I heard my hubby come in the back door, and go over to the kitchen sink...and say "I could use some help up here!"  I get up, and ask what's wrong as I go up the stairs...no answer. Wondering how bad he is bleeding, I reach the top of the steps, and see him bent over the sink. No blood showing...so I head over to him and he kinda turns a little so I can see his face and it's all black and is his hands and arms. He turns back and starts scrubbing again.

I kinda chuckle and asked "What happened!" thinking it looked like he was covered in soot, but didn't know HOW he could have managed THAT!

He said "A paint can exploded" and he continued to try and scrub it off him.  It was a loosing battle...so I chuckled again and said you need to go down and jump in the shower.  So he picked up his glasses, looked at them, then put them back down and headed down stairs.

I grabbed his glasses...and tried to clean them, but it was stuck good (they were good and covered too...both lenses were totally black)...so headed downstairs with them.  DH was in the tub already, and the paint just wasn't coming off...a little did, but not much.  The above photo is the result of the first shower...still a LOT of black left!  *giggle*

I tell you, when he tries to cover gray...he COVERS it!  ;-))

So....here he is, his face, hands and arms covered...I have some on my hands I can't get off, from his glasses and we are wondering what the heck to do...neither of us can touch anything much because we didn't want paint all over the place...and I'm still having giggle fits, every time I look at him.

So...I gingerly grab the phone and call Mom, and ask if she can google how to get paint off...since I didn't want to get paint all over my computer.  Naturally in the middle of the phone conversation Galen reminds me I COULD put gloves on.  DUH!  ROFL  So...I get some medical gloves out of the cabinet, and put them on, so least I can again touch things.

We decide to try paint thinner...which we didn't have as Galen doesn't use it, so I meet Dad part way to his house to get some he had...and Galen is going out to at least try getting some of the paint off with Gas while I'm gone.

When I got back, we went to work getting the paint off his skin, with the paint thinner...and it got some out of his hair, but it still wasn't coming out of that very good.  Galen was just SURE he was going to have to shave his beard and head...but I kept saying NO...it's working, we just have to keep trying.  Galen jumped back into the shower, to get the paint thinner off, and used laundry soap as soap since it's harsher.

I called Mom and said it worked on his skin, and she said she read to try mayonnaise to get it out of the hair, so I went up and got some and we sat with that soaking for a little bit, then he used more laundry soap, cause it was working somewhat before...and he managed to get the rest of it out of his hair.  No shaving required!

As he was drying off, hubby quipped "Real men don't use hair dye....they use paint!"  ROFL  That's my silly goofball!!

I chuckled about this ALL DAY yesterday!  It was just to funny...had me worried a time or two, cause I know paint isn't good to have on your skin...and I was so thankful that his glasses stopped it from getting in his eyes, as that would have been disastrous...but God was good and helped us get it off...and I have to say, I do LOVE laughing, so it was good to have that chuckle not to far away all day.

That event pretty much filled up my morning...slowed me down a lot, but oh boy, did it keep me entertained!  As I was headed over to help my Mom that afternoon, I stopped off at our neighbors house, to drop off a jacket he had left in our car...and I just HAD to share the photo I had on my phone of hubby with them.  *snicker*

I just HAD to share it with the neighbor...as hubby has enjoyed telling a few stories about him...so I made sure HE had a good story about hubby this time.  *giggle*  I'm sure that one will get around our little Amish community over the next few days...several others have, but that is an extremely good one!  Not to mention...the neighbor now has a printed photo to go with the story!   I printed the one from my phone (which wasn't real good...my phone doesn't take good ones) and he took it when he came over last night.  ROFL

I had a good ol time sharing that photo...sent it to my brother...two nieces...and as I mentioned showed it to our neighbor, all the while laughing my head off.  Stuff like that just doesn't happen all that much...where I can laugh at something that happened to HIM...usually it's myself I have to laugh at...so it was good to have the tables turned for a change!  :-))

Poor hubby...he may be the talk of the neighborhood for a few days now...oh wait...he already has been!  He's famous with the Amish around here, they get a kick out of him and his stories I think.  Now they really will.  ;-))

I'm thankful it all turned out ok...makes it ok that I laughed at him.  *snicker*  He does love to see me laugh...he really doesn't have to go to this length to get me too...but since he did, I took advantage of it!  ROFL

An Unexpected Gift

The other day, I took my Mom shopping to one of the bigger towns around us, and had to pick up my SIL there too, as she was returning the rental car she got for a few days after her accident. I drove them home, and dropped my SIL off at her house, before going on up to my Moms.   Mom pointed out the Moss Roses my SIL had planted in a window planter and I said "Oh I LOVE moss roses!" and admired them, before moving on.

I haven't bought flowers for planters for a few years now, cause of several reasons...money being probably the biggest reason...although knowing how hard it is for me to remember to water plants will slow down buying some too. LOL I really thought about getting some this spring, but ended up not doing so...I figure I could put a few hanging pots out on my front porch...but would I remember to water them?!!

Yesterday DH had to run over to my parents place, and when he came back, he brought this pot with him, that had Moss Roses in it. My SIL sent it with him, cause she remembered I said I liked them and she said she was having trouble keeping this one watered, so thought I might enjoy it.

How Sweet! Yes, I do love my flowers...and I will do my best to keep it alive and watered! Thanks!! It was totally unexpected, but a nice little surprise in my day. :-))

It also made me remember a funny from years ago. Hubby and I were in the garden center in walmart one spring day, trying to decide what to get. His sister was also there, and she went off looking for some moss roses, cause she loved them also. I was looking around, and hubby was a ways away, when he saw his sister wasn't around, so asked where she was.

I said, rather loudly...since he was across the way..."She's looking for Ross Moses!...Hmmm, Ummm I mean Moss Roses!" *snicker* Everyone around me chuckled (including myself of course) and hubby got a kick out of me making a fool of myself once again, in front of everyone.

It's just a little funny that I remember, when I think of Moss Roses, but it makes me smile at the memory and even at times laugh.  Just another reason to love my Moss Roses...the laugh that I get to have at the memory.  :-))

See how an unexpected gift can give a person even more joy than expected?!!  Thanks for the pretty gift of flowers, and the gift of another chuckle at the memory Clara!  :-))

Another Funny

I found this photo on my camera after I was sick a couple weeks ago...it's from before I got sick, and I totally forgot I'd taken it. One of our little fruit trees is a red delicious apple...it's probably the only one I remember the variety of...the last owner told me what most were, but I've forgotten. (yes I should have written them down...but it was a casual thing and I had no paper LOL)  We were standing close to this one when he told me, and I was happy to have a red delicious apple, cause they make great applesauce...so I remembered what this one was. LOL It only has three apples on it I think, but I'm hoping they make it so we can at least see how they taste! Hopefully in a few years we will have enough to actually use them for applesauce! :-))

Ok, on to the funny! LOL

While I fighting the tummy flu the other week, DH was off doing what has become his "usual" thing, helping the Amish out. He took one to the city one day, and before they got on the road to far, they stopped for a egg and cheese biscuit in town.

I went to school with the manager of our local Hardies, although I didn't know her well then (or now...we don't move in the same "circles". LOL). Course truthfully, before we moved, I had gotten so good at "forgetting" my school years, that my Mom was actually the one who told me I went to school with her cause I had totally put it out of my mind...now that we are back here some of my time at school has come back to me, so I can actually remember more than just two or three people from my school days. (What can I say...I hated school, mostly cause there were to many jerks that went to our school.)

Anyway, I'd mentioned I went to school with her to my hubby several times, so he got it in his head to say something to her when he went in to order...since she happened to be taking his order that day and he loves to talk to people.

Hubby said "Did you graduate in '88?"

Manager said "Yes...I graduated with your Daughter."

HAAAAAA-HAAAA-HAAA-HA.....I guffawed in his ear when he told me that on the phone after it happened...probably almost breaking his eardrum.  *giggle*

I've got a good laugh out of that one several times...his daughter!  *snicker*  As funny as that is, I didn't REALLY think hubby looks old enough to be my father, not sure where she gets THAT idea!  LOL  He  is ONLY 8 years older than I am, which yeah may seem like a lot when you are in highschool...but not so much now.

A lot of people think my brother and my hubby are brothers when they see them together around here...but this is a new one.

Hee Hee Hee...I'm STILL laughing at that one, it's just Hilarious (to me anyway)!!

Needless to say that's one I'll be remembering for years I think, gotta love a good laugh...besides, I can always take it out, dust it off and tease DH with it, if he gets to saying I'm getting "old"!  ;-))

His daughter....*snicker....snort*  :-))

***Please note...I'm NOT laughing AT her, I'm just sharing a funny story, that made me laugh.  I don't hold it against her, I actually love the story, and am glad it happened, cause I do LOVE a good laugh!

Wild Goose Chase

The following funny is one I wrote three years ago, right after it happened. I posted it on a private family blog, cause hubby didn't want me sharing our stupidity with the world, but he finally said I could, so here it is! *giggle*

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was working on a couple layouts on Sunday, using my newest kit when the phone rang. It was DH, he had gone over to see if he could get come bolts out of the corn crib he was going to tear down, and bring home (his newest scrounged item). On the way over he saw a lot of white way out in the field he drove by, at first he said he thought it was snow, but then he saw it wasn’t, and that it must be snow geese. He wondered if I wanted to come get photos, and we talked about it but then I decided not to, after all I was working….and didn’t feel like walking across a big field to get close enough for photos.

When he came home, he came in talking about them again, and asked if I wanted to go (again) and I thought he said they were closer to the road than they were…now he says he said they were closer to the road, than where he was when he was talking to me on the phone.

Anyway, I finally decided I better go, since he kept asking me, after all it would be really neat if I could get some good photos of them. If we could manage to sneak up close enough and not have them take off in flight, not that either of us can sneak, since we aren’t exactly the type to crawl on our belly’s just to get a photo, but we could do our best, and maybe end up with some cool photos. Maybe. I REALLY should have ignored him and stayed home…REALLY!! You will understand at the end of this tale, why I say that. Ohhhh will you ever understand.

We set out, I had both of my lens for my camera, although I figured I’d only be using the big one, I tucked the small one in my purse just in case, (yes I have a big purse, I love it, cause I can even put my camera in there if I need to). I slung the purse strap around my neck and under one arm, so it wouldn’t keep falling off my shoulder, and hung my camera around my neck, and we were off. We got to the field and sure enough, I could see a bunch way out in the field…WAY out. I got out and took a photo with the zoom all the way out, but it didn’t bring them in to well. I REALLY want a longer zoom lens! LOL

Since we weren’t close enough, I told DH to back up to the corner of the field, cause I saw the gate was open, so we didn’t have to struggle to climb the fence, as it didn’t look like it would be real easy for a fat woman, and a disabled man with a stick. We got up to the gate, and parked the truck…I have a thing about driving on other peoples land, without permission, but felt it would be ok to walk…stupid I know, but what can I say.

We both got out and started walking…and walking….and walking, and I’d look back at the truck, and see we had gone quite a ways, but looking forward, see we had quite a ways yet to go. Who knew those big ol corn fields were THAT big, if you were out walking in them on foot. They don’t look that big from the road. I felt a little bad cause DH has a bad back and knees and he is out there with me…he wouldn’t let me go by myself, not that I would have. LOL But he was interested too, after all we are talking about trying to get close to something we usually only see flying over, way up in the sky.

I of course had a dream, of taking a photo of something besides goats, although I do love our goats, it’s always nice to introduce something new into the photo book. So we kept walking, knowing that the trip back could be rough, since it always seems longer on the return trip. There were a couple of car’s that drove by real slow on the road, that DH waved at, and I’m thinking they must think we are stupid to be walking that far, just to see some geese…little did I know what was coming next, and just how stupid we were.

We got to a water way, and decided it still wasn’t close enough, even though that had been our original goal. We had figured maybe if we got to there it would be close enough to get some good photos, but we were wrong, although we were close enough to hear them now (or was that the ones flying over?).

So we crossed over the waterway, and quietly (almost tiptoeing), so as not to disturb the geese, and have them take off we walked closer, stopped for photos, and then since they weren’t all worried yet, walked closer, stopped for more photos, and moved on. After doing that several times we were really quite a lot closer than I thought we would ever get, and they were still just sitting there…minding their own business. I was amazed, truly amazed. Then as I put the camera to my eye once again, to get another photo, it hit me…

THEY WEREN’T REAL!!! I looked closer, through the zoom lens, and sure enough, they were decoys! Here we are, almost tiptoeing trying to get as close as possible, after that LONG trek across the field with the only thought in my mind being that this will be worth it to get some photos…and they aren’t real!!

Yes we both grew up in the country, and should know the real thing from fake, but it took getting real close before we figured it out. DH asked me how it felt to be dumber than a duck…since they were flying overhead, and not getting tricked into stopping, but we went out of our way to take photos of a goose head on a stick, with plastic floating out from behind it.

It wasn’t our finest hour, and we still had that long trek across the field to the truck to get through, and no satisfaction of having gotten some good photos, to help move us along. I tucked my camera in my big purse, to get rid of the evidence, in case someone else drove by, least they might not know just HOW stupid we were, and we headed back across the field.

I almost didn’t make it back to the truck, between laughing so much I couldn’t walk, and having twisted my hip wrong or something because I could hardly lift my foot over the clods of dirt, when I could see to walk without tears streaming down my face, I told myself never again…I hope anyway! It didn’t help that when I stopped laughing DH would come up with something else to get me going again, like “Well that was a wild goose chase” or “Boy aren’t we a couple of bird brains?” or “This afternoon was for the birds” so then I’d be off again, laughing and finding it that much harder to walk across the field, with the old corn stalks and dirt clods tripping me up from time to time and the soft dirt, making it harder to walk in the first place.

We finally made it back to the truck, and I crawled in, with a little help from DH and sat there laughing my head off. I laughed so hard I was crying, and could hardly breathe. I couldn’t stop, and was still laughing when we got home; even though we had gone over to pick up a shovel DH had left at the place he is getting the corn crib from first. I almost couldn’t make it into the house, because I was laughing so much. I felt so stupid, but it was so funny. I finally got calmed down and saw it was getting late, and I hadn’t called my Mom yet (since I call her every Sunday) so I took a deep breath and decided it was time to stop the wild laughter and try to move on.

It was still there in my voice though, and when Mom answered she said something about the time, and the fact that she hadn’t seen me online on messenger, so she had wondered what we were up to, since I usually called before then…well not all that, but that’s the idea I got out of what she said, which I can’t remember exactly right now…so I said we were on a wild goose chase, and she repeated what I said with a question in her voice, and I was off again, laughing hysterically. DH had to come take the phone and tell her all about it, cause I couldn’t talk…and was laughing so hard he couldn’t hear part of the time.

I don’t usually laugh THAT loud for THAT long, but every time I thought about it I couldn’t stop myself. They chatted for 15 or 20 min. at least, before I was able to take back the phone and talk to Mom. We avoided the subject of geese, till the end, so I would be able to talk to her. She got a kick out of it, and I told her to be sure and tell Dad how stupid we were so he could get a chuckle. She said, “Well at least you got your exercise for today…and your lungs got some too.” (talking about my laughing LOUDLY for a LONG time). I managed to not totally loose it, but agreed and got a chuckle out of that too.

Needless to say we are BOTH feeling EXTREMELY STUPID now. We figure it’s probably going to be all over town about these two idiots out walking across the field with camera in hand, to take photos of….duck heads on a stick, but oh well. It’s something that will give us something to laugh about for years and years, and at least it wasn’t just ME doing something stupid this time…it was BOTH of us!!

We have since found out that those decoys have been put out there for the past 5 or 6 years, we just haven’t seen them, because we don’t usually drive down that road. I guess the people they belong to have gotten quite a few geese by having them there, but I bet this is the first time they caught two complete idiots by putting so many out in the field. Oh well, live and learn, it has given me several giggling episodes since, so I guess that’s ok. LOL I was REALLY sore from walking in all that loose dirt yesterday, but today I’m feeling better, so it did no lasting damage…expect for to maybe show everyone just how stupid we can be. And that’s nothing new with me, so that’s ok. We have a lot of fun that way, so I don’t mind. LOL

I hope some of you who read this get a chuckle out of it, or heck, do like I did and laugh hysterically, it really is funny, and yes we do have our stupid moments around here…but that’s one thing that makes life so fun at our house!! I’ll probably get red every time the subject comes up for a while, but I’m sure I’ll be laughing about it too, so it will be worth it. Gotta love laughter especially when it’s shared with those you love, so laugh away!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We still laugh about this now and then...it may not have been our finest hour, but it sure gave us a lot to laugh about, so can't complain about that. I wanted to blog about it when it happened, but in deference to DH I didn't. Hope some of you enjoyed the story. :-))

I think I should be insulted...

We had a bachelor friend over this last weekend...and he stayed for supper. I'm not sure exactly why we were talking about this, but I said something about my hit and miss cooking and he pipes up and says "Your cooking makes mine look good" *pause* "ummm I mean my cooking makes yours look good!" ROFL

I had just taken a bite to eat and am surprised I didn't spit my food across the table at him as I started laughing. It took me a little bit to be able to swallow the mouthful I had taken, so I could laugh without choking on it. It was SO FUNNY! Poor guy, least I'm not the only one who says things wrong!! *giggle*

Makes me feel not quite so lonely in my "open mouth, insert foot" status. I guess I'm not the ONLY one who says things that doesn't actually come out right. *giggle*

That got me to thinking about the time, a couple days after DH's Mom died, that I said the "wrong" thing. The family was gathered at one of his brothers houses, as we prepared for the funeral. I was inside talking to some of them, and DH was outside with some others. One of our Sisters-in-law decided she would cut the guy's hair, if they needed a hair cut, and DH came to the door of the house to ask if I thought he should get one.

The problem was, it was a bright sunny spring day outside, and so looking at him standing in the doorway it was kinda hard to see anything but shadow and bright sunlight. When he asked about getting a haircut, I pipped up (without thinking) and said "I don't know, I can't see, there's to much glare!" Now, that's not something you say to a balding Man...*giggle*.

There was silence in the house as people stopped what they were doing in shocked silence, then everyone started laughing, and I knew as soon as I said it that I had goofed...but it was to late to take it back, and it WAS funny, so I went with it. *sigh* WHY can't I come up with one liners like that when I WANT to...instead of just when it's the most embarrassing for someone?

Thankfully DH has a great sense of humor, so laughed with us...but has never let me forget it either. LOL He always tries to act injured...all the while laughing at me, when he "reminds" me. I think it's my lot in life to say the wrong thing...part of keeping my DH entertained I guess. *giggle*

Just this last weekend I messed up again...I KNOW the bone in your elbow that hurts like heck when you hit it, is called your "funny" bone...but for some stupid reason I had to call it your "crazy" bone this weekend. *groan*

Just shows how "crazy" I am, I guess! *snicker*

Anyway, I'm trying to come up with a new and exciting way to mess up a meal when this young man comes for supper again...He's got in on a few that weren't as good as they should have been, he deserves another one after the crack about my cooking this last weekend...even if that's not what he meant to say. *giggle*

OH MY WORD...

New & Old

You know how I LOVE to make DH laugh, even going so far as to embarrass myself totally in order to accomplish it?

Remember how I have trouble going shopping and saying things that come out wrong? If you don't remember the stories...you can check out the funny category of posts on my blog, they are in there somewhere.

Well today...I did it again. I managed to pick a new store to embarrass myself in, but boy oh boy did I embarrass myself. *giggle*

Sorry I'm going to be mean, and direct you to DH's blog to read about it, cause he wanted to write it up, and I was more than happy to let him since he writes so much better than I do...besides, I wasn't sure if I wanted to sully your ears...or ummm eyes, by posting it on my blog. *snicker*

It's Peaches fault...if she hadn't of tore up her old ball (notice the ball on the right with no fuzz on it in the above photo...except for color, it USED to look like the ball on the left) I wouldn't have felt that we needed to go find another one for her...so would never have been in this situation. Yep, I'll blame Peaches...after all DH always blames the dogs when he doesn't want to take the blame, so I should be able to also...shouldn't I? *giggle*

Ok, go read about it here...and thats ok, feel free to laugh if ya want...I did...all the way across town and then some.

Course who knows...maybe it's one of those where you had to be there for it to be funny, I don't know. :-))

The Story of the Surefooted Tom

The following photos were taken when I went out to see the cows yesterday, and noticed a flailing cat in the eves of the barn.

No cat was harmed in taking the following photos...

...just shamed by his mother and the laughter of the humans watching him.

Disclaimer: Comments under the photos are not mine, they are what my DH put in the title and description on flicker...they had me rolling with laughter again, so I had to share them too. (Yes you could just go see them on flicker...but here they are all in one post and in order! LOL)

This Is NOT Good...
"This Is NOT Good...WHY am I doing this?"

Maybe..
"Maybe...if I swing myself up here..."

Grab The Corner...
"Grab The Corner...and pull myself up to the roof..."

OK...
"OK...I GOTTA rest a minute..."

I'm Starting To Feel Stupid...
"I'm Starting To Feel Stupid...and my MOM is right behind me..."

Look Ma...
"Look Ma...no brains!"

Uh-Oh...
Uh-Oh...

Son: "ARG! I THINK I'M GONNA FALL!"

Mom: "IDIOT..."

Look, You Fool!
"Look, You Fool! The humans are taking pictures of you! Next thing - your stupid mug will be plastered all over the internet!"

I Think ..I...Can..
Son: "I Think ..I...Can...just flip up here and grab...onto...something..."

Mom: "Yeah, well Spiderman, you ain't"

Oh My Word!
"Oh My Word! Just give it up and fall, already! You're embarrassing me!"

Ok...Ok...Ok
Son: "Ok...Ok...Ok I'm in control now, I almost got it..."

Mom: "Yeah, RIGHT. I'm outta here before you do something ELSE stupid."

And DON'T...
"And DON'T...follow me - I'm tired of the embarrassment."

I Dunno Why You're Embarassed, Mom...
"I Dunno Why You're Embarrassed, Mom...I MEANT to do that. I was just practicing my High Bar moves for the next Gymnastics World Championships..."

I hope the preceding photos gave you at least a little chuckle. I do love it when our animals entertain us...just sometimes they are better at it than others, and this was one of those times. *snicker*

Have a great weekend! :-))

Fun Filled Day

Precious Peaches
Peaches sitting on my lap last night with her ball.

It was a beautiful day today. It got up into the 40's, and a whole lot of melting was going on...even though the ground is still mostly covered with that nasty white stuff, there are patches of brown showing through...and it was so nice to be out and not freeze! :)

We had to go to Lincoln today, so naturally did our monthly shopping to avoid more trips than necessary since gas money is always tight anymore. It was one of those days we laughed our way through though, even with that dreaded shopping.

The trip to the health food store wasn't near as eventful as it's been in the past...and it has been more than once, although I don't think I've written about all of them, just this one here...but I really do think that store hates me, cause if something is going to happen anywhere when we go shopping, it usually HAS to be there.

Today it was just picking up a sack and having it rip all the way down the side...which wasn't to bad, except for the fact that the lady behind me was in a hurry and rolled her eyes...Like it's MY fault the store hates me. LOL The checker gave me a bigger heaver sack, so maybe I could make it out of the store before I caused more mayhem...after all I'm sure he knows my rep in that store! *giggle*

The big event actually happened in Walmart this time...and it wasn't ME who caused it. Actually it was just a misunderstanding, not something anyone did that was embarrassing, but never the less I about died from laughing to much.

We were in the checkout lane, watching a lady unload her cart, when DH piped up and said he wants to go home with her...cause she had some little pecan pies, something he loves but something we don't have very often. This is an older lady, so I didn't take offence to it...not that I would anyway, cause I'm secure in his love. ;)

Anyway, he then continues saying..."Course she has diet coke, so there goes that idea" (he doesn't like coke.)

Continuing on he said "But she does have beer...and peaches....and cereal...

I piped in and said, "...Shrimp" (Shrimp being unclean in the bible, so it's a food we don't eat.)

DH looks at me strangely for a little bit, then seems to agree and goes on listing several other things in her cart that he likes. (as added reasons for him to go home with her.)

Then he must have seen the shrimp in her cart...and said "Oh you mean she HAS shrimp...in her cart?"

Ummm yeah, duh, that's what I said!

He grins and says, "I thought you said she WAS a shrimp...as in short! I thought it was out of character for you to say that!"

*snicker*

I looked at him for a second...rolled my eyes...shook my head and burst out laughing...HARD. ROFL

That thought hadn't even crossed my mind, seriously, I'm extra tall, so I never really think about someone being short...unless they only come to my knees, it's just common that most women are shorter than me, not something I think about to much. And it's certainly not something I'd make fun of...he is right, it would have been out of character for me to say THAT. But it was hilarious to me that he thought I said that, when I said something totally different.

Needless to say I laughed till tears ran down my face on that one...and chucked all the way home from time to time. That also put a stop to the going home with her conversation...there was to much laughter going on to even think about that again. I just hope she didn't overhear the wrong part of the conversation, and think we actually WERE making fun of her height. We just can't go anywhere without getting into trouble. *sigh*

Feeding a bale

That wasn't the end of the fun filled day...we made it home and got unloaded and I grabbed my camera and went outside since it was nice out. I had to go see the cows, since it had been a while since I'd been out there. Honey kept looking over at me, even though DH gave them some more hay. I don't know if she was interested in me, or worried about Yani (Our LGD) as she did chase her a little, when she got to close to her.

Clover

I only got one photo of Clover, cause she stayed in with the cows...and I couldn't see much of her cause they got in the way. She is still a cute little thing though. :)

My attention got taken away from the cows by a cat...I'll share that story tomorrow and apologize in advance for the vast number of photos. I know some of you probably have trouble with photo filled posts...but these were so funny I have to share them.

All in all it's been a good day, even with the shopping...and the news that one of DH's Aunts died (on his Mom's side). I do love shopping days that keep us laughing...helps get through the money shortage better.

So anyway come back tomorrow, if you want to see some funny cat photos! Sometimes our animals try to entertain us TO MUCH! *giggle*

Have a great weekend! :-))

Just when you think you've seen everything...

Half Baked Whole Wheat Moron Bread
Half Baked Whole Wheat Moron Bread

For a change on here...I have no words.

OK, well maybe one...

UNBELIEVABLE!

The sad part about it is, that's not even true, knowing myself....it's TOTALLY Believable.

*sigh*

I'll let you get the story about the above photo from my DH's blog, since I'm still at a loss for words. *giggle* His blog post is here.

I have to admit I laughed hysterically (tears rolling down my cheeks and everything) but the worst part of the whole thing is now I have to crank out more whole wheat flour. I LOVE my grain grinder...but someday...somehow...I would sure like to be able to afford the electric motor assembly that goes with it. Unfortunately it's as much or more than the grinder was...and the grinder was expensive enough.

Ah well...least I had a good laugh today...and we have a new story to laugh about in the years to come.

I may be a moron, but...least I can laugh about it, and I do LOVE a good laugh. :-))

A "Guest's" Funny

Autumn

Name's will be avoided in the following story to protect the story teller (me) so maybe this person won't come back and clobber me. *giggle*

Several years ago we had several people here for a visit, one of which was a 20 something "youngin'" who grew up in the city. Our little female dachshund (Autumn...the one pictured above) was in heat at the time, which everyone had become very aware of...we won't talk about "how" they knew...but it had something to do with how Rascal was acting. LOL

We were all sitting around the dinning room table, after lunch talking and having a good time when all of a sudden the "youngin'" got up, knelt down and said "one of your dogs is bleeding" as they wiped a drop of blood up off the floor with their finger and hold it up for everyone to see. Everyone was looking at the "youngin'" for a moment in silence, probably trying to think of what to say...when DH pipes up and says "Autumn's in HEAT" stressing the word heat.

There was another moment of silence, as the "youngin" looked bewildered as to how this had anything to do with there being blood on the floor, and then the look of comprehension crossed their face as it turned beat red and everyone else burst out into hysterical laughter.

I laughed till I cried over it...yet I felt kinda bad, cause I knew how embarrassed this person probably was...I just couldn't stop myself from laughing about it, cause it was so funny. (At least for those of us THERE, it was. LOL) This person's SO (SO = significant other) laughed hard to, although later admitted they felt bad about laughing, and the "youngin" just got up and went outside because of the embarrassment, and probably learned a little more about animals that day than they cared to.

It's given DH and I a chuckle over the years when we think about it, and we have brought it up to this "youngin" since, (cause we are mean like that)...and the "youngin" still tries to change the subject. *giggle*

I guess I didn't realize that it wasn't common knowledge that female animals have "monthly" cycles like humans do, even if it's not "monthly" for all of them, but I guess for someone who grew up without animals around, it wouldn't be common knowledge. I know Autumn was worse at the bleeding part of it, so much so that when we traveled we had to use a doggie diaper on her, to keep the blood off of everything.

I have to admit...it is always nice to have someone else do the really embarrassing things, it makes me feel not quite so alone since I tend to do more than my share of them. *snicker*

I thought I'd share this episode, since DH and I chucked about it yet again a few days ago when a friend was visiting. :-))

Keeping busy & a funny.

Cutting Hay

Well yesterday DH started cutting our hay for the first time this year! He only got a few times around the field, when a belt broke, so we had to go get another one...which effectively filled up the rest of the afternoon, and he didn't get back to cutting hay till this morning. It's all down now, so hopefully tomorrow he can start baling it. Then the hard part starts...picking them up out of the field and getting them into the barn. That's when I get to help...and yes I love having the hay for our animals, but no I can't say I enjoy the process of actually getting it. LOL *sigh* Oh well it's worth it, since we have animals. As always, there are more photos on flicker, which you can get to by clicking on the photo of the cat at the top of the left column! :)

The breakdown yesterday was aggravating, but actually it turned out to be a good thing...because it gave us a couple laughs, that we wouldn't have had...and you know how much I LOVE to laugh! It had been a little to serious around here over the weekend, so the laugh loosened us up, and brought the sunshine back...figuratively speaking of course, since it has been here for several days. (Yippee for several days of no rain!!! Thank you Yahweh!!) :)

Funny:

About that funny...this time it wasn't ME!! *grin* We stopped by wally to get a few things, since we were fairly close to it, and splurged on something I almost never buy anymore. We got some glazed doughnuts. DH's Mom had a bakery when he was little so he was addicted to those little balls of carbs...but over the years we've managed to cut down on the buying of them to just a few times a year. I'm not for sure, but this is probably only the first or 2nd time this year. Anyway...when we left the store, we each had one for an afternoon snack, and then naturally had to stop at a convenience store to get something to wash it down with. DH goes in to get it, and I stay in the car...so didn't actually see it happen, but he told me about it when he got back out to the car.

When he came out, he grinned, and sheepishly started telling me how he embarrassed himself. He got the drinks, and walked up to the register, and stood waiting for the checker to finish with the guy ahead of him. He licked his lips, and felt some glaze from the doughnut, so (not thinking) he put his tongue out the side of his mouth, trying to see how far it went over onto his cheek...normally I'd lift my hand, if I discovered I had something on my face...but like I said, he wasn't thinking about where he was. *giggle* He then noticed that the checker was looking at him strangely, so he stopped, but not before she got the idea that he was a little odd...or ummm... worse. *snicker* After she finished with the man ahead of DH, she had another checker come and she left, and went into the back...it may have just been bad timing, but he got the distinct impression that she didn't want to be there with him. ROFL

Poor Man, I guess finally getting a doughnut must have blown his mind or something, because he is usually a little more refined than that. He said she probably thought he was a pervert or something, when all he was wanting to do, was enjoy ALL of the doughnut, including that, that was stuck on his face. *giggle*

Needless to say I had a good laugh at his expense, and was thankful that this time it wasn't ME who had done something embarrassing when we were out and about. I think neither of us should be allowed off the farm at this rate! *snicker*

Cherries:
Printable Recipe

When we got home, a friend stopped by with three gallon buckets of cherries! Yes, I know, I thought I was done with cherries, but when they get dropped into our lap, what can you do. I cleaned them and sorted them, while DH put the belt on and then we ran up to the neighbor's house and used their pitter on them, so I could can them for pies. The neighbor lady told me how she cans cherries for pies, since I'd never done it before...and since it sounded way easier than what I'd read about, I did it her way...we will see when I use them how it worked out.

She said she does it the easy way...I think she said her Mom told her how, but maybe it was a friend, I can't remember that part. Anyway, she said instead of making a syrup to go on them, she puts the cherries in a qt jar, puts the sugar in the jar adds water if it's needed and then the lid and ring. She then shakes them up so the sugar is mixed real good, and puts them in the canner and cans them. I asked how much sugar and almost had a cow...but I guess they are sour cherries...so it's not REALLY surprising. I didn't add any water, as they seemed to be quite juicy, but added a cup of sugar. She also said when I am ready to use them, I heat them on the stove, add a half cup sugar with a 1/4 cup of cornstarch or flour to thicken it.

Sorry, I just wanted to get how to do it down, for my future reference. :) I'm so glad I asked her how she did hers...cause I really didn't want to make a syrup, after all it was getting late and I wanted to be able to go to bed sometime that night. LOL I got them into the canner, then grabbed my laptop and sat in the kitchen catching up on e-mails while it did it's thing. That is the biggest reason I wanted a laptop...cause canning season is SO boring, if I don't have something to do while the canner is going. *giggle* I love canning, just don't love the waiting so much.

Cheese:

While DH was out finishing cutting the hay today, I decided to use the milk we had for cheese, instead of sending it out for the hay field. I wanted to try a new Mozzarella recipe I'd found...because the last one was just to tangy, it was good for pizza, but we didn't really enjoy eating it for a snack...and we do like having cheese for snacks. I used this one here (same blog I got my cottage cheese recipe from) and DH informed me that it's the BEST I've ever made! :)) I have to agree with him...it was easy to do, and didn't take all that long really, although probably more than 30 min...but then I'm slow...and it was my first time. LOL

I didn't do the microwave method, I heated the whey up and used that to heat the cheese up. I do wish I could get my hands toughened up though, cause even though I had on extra heavy rubber gloves, that whey gets HOT and my hands were red for a while, after I was finished. I had to get a bowl of cool water to plunge my hands into every little bit, so I could cool them off and go back to pulling the cheese. It's sure worth it though, cause ohhhhh it's SO good! I'm not sure I'll have enough left for pizza at the rate it's being eaten...unless I make pizza tomorrow. *giggle*

I've got to go have a talk with Daisy, and tell her to get a move on with having that baby...cause we REALLY need more milk, so I can make more cheese and still have some for the hay field and other plants. I did go over and see her when I was done weeding my beets this evening, and her bag sure looks like it's getting a lot bigger, so maybe she is getting close...she will have to hurry to have it by the 4th of July though, which is when DH said (last month) he thought she would have it by...not that he's been to good this year at predicting. Usually he is better at it. LOL

Anyway, guess that's enough rambling on about different things...I should have posted the funny yesterday, so this was a shorter post, but I ran out of time. Hope everyone is having a great week! Thankfully it's not quite as hot here this week...still gets up in the 80's, but that's better than the 90's or hotter! Praise God for the break in the rain!! :)

Senility has arrived in force!

Out For A Swim

DH took a couple photos of Mabel in the creek yesterday and I liked them so well I thought I'd share one. She looks like she is enjoying the water...it was so warm out there that I bet it did feel good. :)

Now on to the Senility part of my post. LOL

Here I am just past my 40th birthday, an age that in my family doesn't mean much, most don't think of it as old...except for Kali of course, and she doesn't count cause she is still young and not as wise as us old fogeys. *giggle* (not that I'm saying I'm really wise. LOL) On the other hand, in DH's family, they always said once you reach 40 you are "over the hill" which to my way of thinking means you are old. Of course, in their eyes I got old a long time ago (just in a different way *snicker*). As usual, I didn't feel any different when my 40th birthday rolled around, than I did the day before when I was still 39, so I figured it was just another number like usual.

Then we had to go do our monthly shopping...and I found out I had aged more than I thought, in that 24 hour period. Enough that I can now say with certainty that I've gone over the edge into senility, granted I'd showed signs before...but now, there is no denying it! Next thing you know I'll be talking to the "little people". *giggle* (Sorry, for all of you who are wondering what that means...it's a family joke, so only a few will understand it.)

I could blame it on the store, as it's not the only time I've embarrassed myself there. For those of you who have been a reader for a while you may remember when I hurt some poor young mans feelings in the health food store, if you don't remember you can go remind yourself about what I'm talking about here. This time I managed to not hurt anyone's feelings, but unfortunately I proved to my DH, myself, and the checker (and who knows how many OTHER people) that I've totally gone senile!

I've been using my discover card to pay for our shopping and then paying it off right away a few days later because it gets us a few pennies back and since they changed it so you couldn't get any cash back, till it reached $50.00 it's been hard for us to get that last little bit that we had been needing for several years, so I can get an extra $50.00. Being me, and wanting my 50 bucks (It's been in the 40's forever it seems LOL), this is the only way I could think of to get it...since I won't charge things that I can't afford, unless it's an emergency. I don't like paying the credit card interest, so if I use it, it gets payed off that same month...it's handy to have the card sometimes...but isn't something I ever want to HAVE to use.

So anyway, I'd used the card a couple times already that day, and I guess it had already become automatic to grab it out of my wallet, as soon as I pick my wallet up. When we got to the checkout I put the basket of items I was getting on the counter, and moved down a little and then grabbed my wallet out of my purse. I was paying attention to DH not what I was doing...so therefor gave us all a huge laugh, and got to be totally embarrassed...although not for the first time.

I opened my wallet, and when I looked down I couldn't find my card. I was holding my wallet in my left hand and must have muttered something cause DH leaned over just as I said "great, now we have to go all the way back across town" cause I was thinking I had left it at the last store when I checked out. DH asked which one I was looking for, thinking it was my bank card, but he had just seen it in it's slot...so didn't think it could be. So I said (as I slid my wallet to my right hand and raised my left one) that I must have left my Discov.....oh ummm... There it was, between a couple fingers in my left hand, hiding behind my wallet. *giggle*

*sigh* Yep...Senility has struck....BIG time!

I mean really, how hard is it to find a card that you are hanging onto? Pretty hard when you are me I guess. *snicker* That's way worse than not being able to find your glasses when they are on top of your head (which I've never done btw...course probably only because I never put them there). ROFL

It took a moment for the checker to figure out what we were laughing at, (because even though I was TOTALLY embarrassed I was chuckling about it too...what else could I do, the floor sure wasn't going to open up and swallow me like I'm sure at that moment I would have liked it to) but once the checker figured out what happen she started laughing with us to. It was her first day, so I'm sure now she thinks total loonies go to that store, especially if she knows that young man from a few years ago. ROFL

Course DH had to joke and make it worse...that's just his way. I think the checker felt a little bad for me, but enjoyed the laugh. She did tell me as I walked out that she hoped my day got better. *giggle* I totally lost it when I got outside, and especially in the car, so I had giggle tears running down my face as we drove down the road heading to the next store. It was so bad I had to walk around that next store looking like I had cried...*sigh* I'll never live it down and I'm sure DH will be making sure I "have my card" from time to time just to make sure I don't forget my humiliation. It really was funny though...and I've laughed till I cried several times over it already.

I seriously can not help myself...I can just go so long before I like to totally embarrass myself...and DH. It's just who I am...a total idiot, put on this earth to make my DH laugh, and sometimes I'm darn good at my job!! *snicker* I make him chuckle quite often, but every so often, I really let loose and give him something to laugh at the rest of the day....and beyond. I've come to think of it as my job. :))

Or maybe it's just that store...they must have a "stupid spray", that they save just for my visit and go hog wild spraying it around when they see me get out of our car and head towards their door! *giggle*

Maybe I'll have to give my DH a list of what I need, and sit in the car from now on...or maybe I'll just suck it up and agree to keep my "job" and keep DH amused. I can handle being embarrassed, after all I've had 40 years to get used to being embarrassed a lot, so while yes I still get red, it doesn't bother me quite as much as it used to...I do love to laugh, so why not see the funny side of it and enjoy it too!

So laugh away...I may have gotten Senile, but that's when the fun REALLY starts isn't?!! :))

Autumn hits the jackpot

Silly Autumn

Last night, while we were watching a DVD, lounging in our comfy recliners, DH was eating the last of the apple crisp I made on Saturday when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye, I saw Autumn (who was sitting on his lap watching him intently) make a sudden move then get scolded by DH and told to get down. I looked over to see her chewing as she started to jump down, so told her to get in her bed, thinking she had gotten brave enough to steal something out of DH's bowl. I should have known better, cause she knows better than to do that...I think. As she half ran across the living room floor towards her bed in DH's office, I saw her still chewing away, and started giggling, cause it looked funny....plus she had to have gotten a nice big chunk of DH's desert to still be chewing it.

Keep in mind that Apple's are Autumns FAVORITE food...so she will be extra fast when it comes to acquiring some! I asked DH how she managed to get her face in his bowl and he said she didn't, she snagged a chunk that fell off his spoon, before it landed on his chest. That made me really start laughing, cause that is something I KNOW she is good at doing...which is one reason she isn't allowed on my lap when I'm eating, cause if I happen to be a slob (which I can be from time to time....ok a lot of the time) I don't care to have her lunging up to get whatever it happens to be that falls off my fork.

This time she really hit the jackpot though, she got a nice sized chunk of the apple coated granola topping, so she probably figured it was worth getting into trouble. Once I found out she hadn't stolen it out of his dish, I called her, and finally went to see where she was...and...gee, big surprise....she wasn't in her bed, thinking about her sins, (as IF dogs would do that anyway), she was outside...Digging in the yard. Silly mutt, hit the jackpot of apple flavored yummy stuff, then goes out and enjoys one of her favorite springtime activities. If you look close you can see the dirt on her toenails in the photo above. *sigh* We get no respect around here out of our animals...I'm telling ya, they just go and do what they want to do, and only occasionally listen to us...if they think we are REALLY mad at them. The Doxie's are the worst of the lot too...course it doesn't help that they know my giggle and know they aren't in that much trouble if they hear it. *giggle*

I think I'll see those short little legs of Autumns running across the living room with her head kinda down and out, chewing away on that yummy bite for a long while...*snicker* yep it still makes me laugh at the memory!

Gotta love them for the entertainment they provide us I guess...not to mention the unconditional love that they give us, even when we mess up and think they did something they didn't. :)

Panic

I'm still in the process of learning about my new laptop. I'm used to a desktop for starters, so the little differences between a desktop and a laptop can really mess me up sometimes. Sometimes those "mess ups" can cause me to panic, thinking I've totally messed up my computer, and will have to start over on getting it set up, which is something I DON'T want to have to do.

I was trying to set up my printer so I could use it over the network, this morning, so it was easy to tell it to print something if I'm using my laptop somewhere besides my office. (and also, so I can use the ONE printer with TWO or more computers.) I'm in my office, with my laptop AND desktop on, because I have to make the desktop work that way too, and then I can set up my laptop. I was waiting for my desktop to restart, (which takes forever it seems) so looked down and absentmindedly tried to brush some dust off of my laptop just as my desktop shuts down to restart. My laptop seems to attract dust like no body's business, and it's a never ending job just keeping most of it off of it (and I've only had it a week...as you can see in the photo, I can't keep it all off! LOL)

Anyway, I was somewhat distracted, with paying attention to my desktop computer too, so will use that as an excuse as to why I didn't figure out what was going on for a little while, well that and the fact that I don't know my laptop well enough too. LOL I started having excel windows pop open on the laptop, and there were several of them. Then I noticed I couldn't get online, and thought I had messed something up on the desktop, since it's the one that I have the modem and router hooked up to. I finally figured out that the desktop could get online (once it got fully restarted), so I started looking at my laptop to try to figure out why it wouldn't.

I found out that the net button had been pushed...but ummm just WHERE the button was, I had no idea. I didn't even know there was such a thing. *giggle* I finally figured out, that the lights above the keyboard (in the photo above) weren't just lights, they are actually buttons, so when I slid my finger across them (absentmindedly getting the dust) strange things started happening on my computer, because I had pushed the buttons. Who knew? Ok, probably everyone but me...but hey, I'm new to this laptop business! *snicker* The book they sent with the computer didn't have a diagram with all the buttons marked on it, or anything like that, so I have to figure out all these things myself...through trial and error, and stupidity on my part.

Once I figured it out and the panic went away I laughed at myself and muttered *idiot* to myself and preceded to set up my printer...but OMGoodness I hate that feeling where you think you REALLY messed something up. LOL Now I get to shake my head (at myself) and chuckle at my stupidity through out the day. Although really, those "lights" don't LOOK like buttons to me, they just look like indicator lights. *sigh*

I wonder what else I have yet to figure out...and how many more times my computer will get the better of me? :) I do know I haven't figured out WHY Excel opens when I push the "buttons" up there, that's something I'd like to know, cause if I could change it to a different program I would change it to one I use all the time. So it looks like I need to do some research...someday. LOL Oh well, least I have a way to print things from this computer now...and something to keep me chuckling most of the day (remember, I'm easily entertained *giggle*).

Hopefully the rest of the weekend is uneventful...least when it comes to my computer. Have a great weekend...and DON'T touch those lights above your keyboard, on your laptop! *snicker*

Growing puppies & An old funny

Big Puppies

This puppy, is the same one he's holding here the day it was born. Nine days later it has grown a lot, so now it won't fit in one hand to well!! LOL They should be opening their eyes soon, then before we know it they will be walking and playing and being oh so much cuter. LOL There are more photos on flicker, and if you want to compare the new ones with the old ones you can tell how much bigger they are. :)

Another of my Embarrassing Moments:

Speaking of me not being graceful...we were weren't we, in the last post? LOL Ok, well it was mentioned anyway. It made me think of a time when I tripped over the threshold of a door on the way out of a restaurant.

It was several years ago, and my DH, a nephew and I were in Lincoln headed home (we lived in Polk at the time), but we wanted to get something to eat first so decided to stop at a well known restaurant that we happen to be driving by. We laughed and joked our way through the meal, and at one point DH said something about me to his nephew that had me threatening him with dire consequences..."You are SOOOO dead as soon as we get outside" which was an "idle threat" I used to make far to often. Of Course I promptly forgot about it, it's just what I do...forget things. *giggle*

However DH has a longer memory than I do, and that came back to haunt me as I walked outside and made a fool of myself.

As I said, we went on with our meal, I totally forgot DH deserved a beating for what he said, and we finished up and paid for the meal and headed out to the truck to get back on the road for home. DH and our nephew were ahead of me, and another couple was coming in the door beside the one I was walking out of, when I tripped over the threshold. This wasn't just a common "trip and recover"...this was a "trip and almost fall flat on my face" kinda trip.

With DH being right ahead of me, as I started to fall I involuntarily screeched and my arms flew out to try to grab onto DH's back to try to catch myself. Course DH, remembering my threat, and hearing me screech, kinda turned and saw my flying towards him with my hands out, so starts trying to dodge me, thinking I'm after him, not realizing that I'm just a "not so graceful" idiot who tripped. I remember seeing DH's eyes widen as I lurched toward him, before he tried to dodge me, and at the time, I thought it was with concern for me...then later I realized it was with concern for HIS OWN life. LOL Our nephew is standing off to the side watching all this, thinking the same thing Galen was, that I was carrying out my threat as I said I would; to harm him "as soon as we get outside" (although we were hardly outside yet *snicker*).

I guess he took me at my word! He was outside and the "AS SOON AS" part of the threat was all he remembered. However he should have known that I would forget it BEFORE we got outside. Besides, I wouldn't totally make a fool of myself in front of other people on purpose...and even had I not been falling, the screech and lunge with my hands out would have been making a fool of myself with others around, so there was no way it could have been anything but an accident. *giggle*

Luckily (for me AND DH) DH realized in time that I wasn't after him, so he managed to catch me so that I didn't go all the way to the ground. Lucky for me, cause I really hate falling...lucky for him cause if I had gone all the way down, because he was trying to get away from me, he would have for SURE been in the dog house!! *giggle*

I was embarrassed to say the least...it was bad enough that DH and our nephew were there to see it, but to have it happen in front of other people (at least the couple who were going into the restaurant if not others who were inside already) was just mortifying. I survived anyway, and we laughed about it all the way home cause it WAS funny...and we have remembered it several times over the years and laughed some more. *giggle*

Since we love a good laugh, and I was thinking about this one, I just had to share it...although I'm sure it is funnier to those of us who where there at the time, than you who read about it. Of course, that could have something to do with the writer. LOL

Have a great weekend!

Scrappin', laughin' & grumblin'.

I managed to get a couple LO's done, with Dusty Bear's newest kit! I thought these photos of some lace and pottery demonstrations at the tractor show we went to this summer would work nicely with it.

The first layout shows a lady making bobbin lace. That's something that I would so love to WANT to do, but it looks so complicated and long winded, that I just don't think I would have the patience to do it. It's beautiful stuff though and I'd sure love to know someone who did...who also wanted to make me a bunch!! *giggle* It's would be some extra special lace that's for sure, knowing how long it must have taken them to make it. :)

The 2nd layout shows a lady doing pottery. That's something I always wanted to try. I don't know that I'd actually want to do LOTS of it, but it's just one of those things I've had a hankering to try at least once in my life...and I've wanted to for years. I remember when I was growing up seeing a lady do it when we were on vacation in Minnesota and I was itching to try it then...so as you can see it's been YEARS that I've wanted to...maybe someday I can. Whenever I see it being done I just have to stop and watch. It's one thing I could have watched longer...but not being there by myself I had to move on. :(

Today was that dreaded "shopping" day when we go to the "big" city and do enough shopping to keep us fed for at least a month. With us getting older (we must be since our niece SAID we were old when we saw her last month *giggle*) shopping just isn't as fun as it was when I was a kid. However today we didn't even make it half way to the "big" city before DH did something to have me in stitches the rest of the drive. We had a good time together...at least until it was time to check out at Walmart...and then...well that's another story. LOL

On the way to the city, DH was talking on the phone to our neighbor, when he wanted to point out the road that DH and my brother went down to pick up an old truck my brother bought this weekend. Since he was talking, he couldn't just say that was the road, he went to gesture, and had his finger close to his face when he did it (why....I don't know) and he ended up flicking his glasses completely off his face and they flew into the back seat. It was a really slick and quick move, because usually they would catch and only come part way off, or end up falling into your lap, but somehow he whisked them off and tossed them back, all in the blink of an eye. He rolled his eyes (cause he was still talking on the phone...so didn't want to be rude and laugh in their ear) and I snickered and tried to turn and find them for him...but was laughing to much so I couldn't, he had to pull over and find them himself. I managed to not get to noisy with my laughter till he got off the phone. I just kept seeing the look on his face, and it keep cracking me up over and over, all the way to the city. I know...you had to be there to find it as funny as I did...but really it WAS funny!

We laughed and joked our way through the day till we got in line to check out at wally, and got the WORST checker EVER. I have nothing against older people, I love them to death, however there are some jobs they really SHOULDN'T give to them, least not if they are like this guy was. He had to ask what any of the vegetables were, so he could look them up and get the number (which he did in the slowest possible way), and was extremely SLOW moving, I swear we stood in line for at least a half hour as he rung us up. Yes we had a bunch of stuff...but not THAT much. We joked about it at first...but there is only so much we can take of that, and by the time we were finally able to leave, even DH was having trouble joking about it...and he always has a joke handy to lighten any situation.

For the last couple years I have hated to go to walmart, because every time I do, I find something else I hate about that store...if we could afford it, we wouldn't bother going back so we didn't constantly have a bad shopping experience, but there are some things they are just cheaper on...and we can't afford to pay more for something just to avoid them. Oh well, I guess we can't laugh ALL day! LOL I would have complained about it if I thought they would just move him to a different job in the store (he would make a great greeter...just not a very good checker) and not fire him...but there was no way I wanted to get him fired, if he needed the job, so we just left grumbling and and got on with our day. We survived, and got to laughing together again, so we still had a good day together. :)

Mortification

We made a quick trip over to my parents this weekend, had a lot of fun and got several photos I'm sure I'll be sharing once I have a chance to go through them and get rid of the rejects and upload them to flicker. However I had to share a funny yet mortifying event that happened on the way home today. I also have to say it was EXTREMELY MEAN of my DH to embarrass me like this...although I did laugh about it! LOL

My brother

I have to give a little background...this photo shows my brother and a hat he wore this weekend. My niece and I were teasing him about it and I made the mistake of saying it was an old man's hat. NOT that I don't think some people look just fine wearing them, but since I'm used to DH and my brother wearing ball caps or hats with a brim all the way around it I have to say they look a little funny in that hat. The photo isn't the best...and is cropped a lot (so REALLY doesn't look the best) as I was just wanting to show the hat, not my brother acting silly (which he was doing to the embarrassment of his daughter ROFL). I have even told my DH that no I didn't think he would look good in this type of hat, cause he likes them himself.

On the way home today we had discussed the hat again, laughed at my Brother embarrassing my niece and DH told me (again) that he didn't think the hat was an "old man's hat" with me disagreeing with him as I was chuckling. That comment I made, of it looking like an old mans hat isn't really something I would say to just anyone (well it wasn't till now) because I would figure it had a chance of hurting their feelings if they were older and liked that type of hat. I love older people, they have a lot to teach us younger generations so would never want to hurt their feelings intentionally.

We stopped at a convenience store to use their facilities and grab something to drink when that mortifying moment happened. Keep in mind that I really hate "hurting" people's feelings and even after 18 years of marriage somehow forget that DH isn't adverse to embarrassing me by telling others (even complete strangers) things I have said. I've gotten better about laughing with them and not minding...but...sometimes... like this one, it's hard.

I walked out of the Bathroom just in time to see DH holding the door of the store open for an older gentlemen before he walked in himself. The Gentleman had one of "those" hats on that we had just been discussing and I (stupidly) walked up to DH and whispered "See! Case in point!" while kinda glancing at the older gentleman. Meaning "see it's and old mans hat!". DH grinned and a little later I heard him telling the gentleman that he liked his hat...*pause*..."my wife won't let me wear one".

*groan* That comment was bad enough but then DH looks at me with that cheeky grin of his and says "Tell him WHY you don't like them."

I looked at him for a second while I tried to wrap my mind around the fact that he was being so mean as to totally embarrass me ON PURPOSE in public...with something I said that could hurt someones feelings. If my jaw didn't actually hit the floor it's amazing cause I was flabbergasted for some reason. Once my mind accepted the fact that he really WAS being a total meany I looked at him and said "SHUT UP!"...with laughter in my voice cause yes I could see the funny side but there was NO WAY I was going to tell the gentleman that I thought it was an old mans hat and I was hoping I could also get the point across that if DH knew what was good for him he wouldn't either.

DH laughed and walked a little ways away (probably hoping I wasn't going beat him senseless cause he could tell I wasn't real happy with him even if it was funny *giggle*) and somehow I managed to laugh my way through the rest of the conversation with the gentleman and not have to tell him. He left shortly after and we went to check out and the girl that took our money laughed with us and agreed with me that it was an old mans hat, when DH told her WHY I didn't really want him to wear a hat like that. I didn't mind so much her knowing after all she was young....and a girl! LOL (I know I have odd ideas...what can I say)

We got back on the road without DH coming to harm, I did laugh about it (after all it was funny even if it were embarrassing enough to have me entertaining the thought, however briefly, of beating DH senseless. *giggle*) even while I kept gasping at the audacity of him bringing it up, in front of total strangers...although really I should know by now that he LOVES to do things like that and I should be used to it but somehow, sometimes, I'm still surprised when he drags something out in public like that. I have promised him that he will pay though....although haven't thought of just how to MAKE him pay....which means he probably won't, cause I will probably forget before I think of a way! *snicker*

I hope everyone had a good weekend, we did, even with the funny mortifying (for me) episode. LOL I'll try to come back tomorrow and post more about our weekend, I have to get the photos onto flicker before I can though...so we will see how fast that happens. If I'm lucky I can actually manage that tonight...but I won't hold my breath.

Thanks so much for all of your comments both on my blog and through e-mails about the butter post, I enjoyed reading them. :)

Embarrassing Moments

Funny Romper

This photo cracked me up when I saw it. I think this photo would embarrass the goat if I showed it to her so I won't *giggle* but I just had to share it here cause it's to funny. She was really enjoying those old wild sunflower heads the other day and was leaning out over a cliff to get some of them. I do love a good laugh which must be one reason my many embarrassing moments don't bother me for long, because they are usually to funny to not share.

Every now and then DH and I start talking and laughing about things that have amused us in the past and usually it's one of my many little embarrassing moments, one story about something I did always seems to come up. (I'll share it in a little bit.) Well usually more than one of my moments comes up, but that one comes up the most.

I guess that ever since I got married I felt that I had to entertain my DH with the silly things I do...or something cause I sure have done enough of them. Sometimes its just downright embarrassing what I will do to make him laugh...*giggle* OK usually it's all unplanned because while I'm not totally dumb, I'm not quick enough to come up with most of the things I've said and done on purpose, especially not on the spur of the moment.

After we were married we discovered I had a problem with cliches, a BIG problem. I think I've gotten almost all of them wrong at one time or the other. DH always gets a big laugh every time I do, although they have slowed down the last few years...probably cause I've already gotten most of them wrong, although I think I still managed to find one I hadn't mangled, this year yet.

"Pulling my arm", "They'll hand the book to that guy", "What's coming to this world","ear to the grindstone" & "It's on your neck" are just a few of the things I've said, instead of what I should have said. I've been embarrassed about them but they ARE funny usually so I laugh at them too.

Course getting the jokes that people have said has always been a problem with me too, it's gotten better over the years also, but some of them still go over my head...and DH loves to laugh at me then to. I guess that's the price you pay for being a bit naive and totally blonde at times. I can't say I'd want to change though, it's to amusing even to me...although sometimes I've wanted to fall through the floor from embarrassment at the time.

I've told about a couple times that I was embarrassed on my blog already (here & here) but probably the most embarrassing thing I remember doing, the thing that comes up the most when we are laughing about things, was done at a customers house when we had our business doing warranty work on windows and doors. I am so thankful that the woman who's house we were in was one of the nicest ladies because if she hadn't of been we would have been history.

We were walking through her house inspecting her windows to see what needed to be done and what would have to be ordered. It's a really nice house in a upscale neighborhood with a lake in the backyard. The Lady was really nice and had laughed and joked with us throughout the tour, along with telling us stories about her family history. She talked about her Dog, an old Golden Retriever and how she was getting really slow and hard to move around some of the time, we had to walk around the poor dog some as she lay in the hallway snoozing even.

We made it to the kitchen that had an island in it, and a window above the sink. We opened the window, measured it talked some more and then turned and were walking back out into the hallway, (I was behind both DH and the owner) when all of a sudden calamity struck. DH told me later he wishes he had had a video camera...I just wished I had stayed in the truck. *snicker*

All of a sudden as I was walking behind DH and the lady as they talked, something grabbed my leg (I thought) and I heard something go scattering around the kitchen floor. As I kinda skated across the floor for a short distance because something was under my foot and sliding on the floor, I was trying to not end up sprawled on the floor when I managed to catch myself. I then realized that SOMETHING had attached itself to my foot and leg (hence that something "under" my foot), so on reflex I tried to shake it off, kicking my foot out to the side several times. I saw that old arthritic dog jump up and slink down the steps into the basement probably because she didn't want blamed for the fiasco. All this only lasted a few seconds before I finally came to my senses and realized what was happening and that I wasn't going to kick whatever it was off my foot, so I stopped and stood there in shocked disbelief, bright red from embarrassment and a little afraid of what this was going to do to our reputation with the window company.

I looked over at DH who was standing in the doorway beside the homeowner, both of whom were frozen in place. We were all three speechless at first I think...although the next few seconds have blurred in my memory because of the horrible embarrassment I was in. I looked down to see what had caught me and saw my foot was down in the wire dog food holder that had resided beside the island and held that poor dogs water and food up in the air so it didn't have to bend down to the floor to get it. I have no idea to this day HOW my foot managed to be THAT high so it would go into it, I had to have been high stepping...and don't know why I would have been, cause I don't walk like that usually.

Needless to say my thrashing around had bent it all up, so once my foot was extracted from it by DH, the homeowner (probably embarrassed for me) grabbed it and started pulling on different parts of it to try to get it back into shape, all the while saying it was OK and it happens all the time. Ummm well I kinda doubted that part, but since I was just wanted to leave at that point I didn't say anything about the obvious lie. Maybe she meant it gets hit all the time so the food scatters across the floor...but it sure sounded like she meant the whole dance happens a lot...and I doubt to many people have the distinction of stepping into it and skating across the floor then wildly trying to shake it off their foot.

I offered to help clean up the mess of dog food and water that was all over the kitchen at that time but she grabbed a broom and started sweeping saying no she could get it. It almost sounded like she didn't want me touching anything else for fear I'd destroy her house...although I'm sure that's just what I thought at the time because I was embarrassed. Thankfully we were almost finished and could leave shortly after that.

Amazingly she didn't ask the company to send someone else and even requested us on other occasions when she had an issue with her windows (including one time it wasn't a warranty issue so she had to pay us herself not the window company!)...so it must not have bothered her as much as it did me. DH and I laughed (later on of course once I COULD laugh about it) that she probably enjoys having a funny story to tell at any party they give.

We have laughed about that many times over the years and I admit it would be kinda nice to have a video, but at the time I was so mortified I might have destroyed it if we had had one. I like to console myself with the thought that it could have been so much worse....if it had happened at one of our BAD customer's houses I would have been banned from the property...and the window company would have found out about it....and who knows if they would have wanted to keep giving us work. So I Thank God that since I HAD to embarrass myself, it happened at one of our favorite customers house and that the homeowner had a great sense of humor.

I did notice though that the next time we went to her house that Dog food holder was gone and there was a much stronger sturdier one in it's place. *giggle*

I think my really funny embarrassing episodes have slowed down lately, I think the last time I did something that had me in stitches so much that I couldn't stop laughing involved my DH too and that's been several months ago so maybe I'm getting better at not embarrassing myself....and then again maybe it's just taking a break. LOL I couldn't share the last episode because my DH was involved and he isn't as used to sharing his embarrassing moments but let me tell you it was a good one...although I was more embarrassed about the above story than I was about the untold one. I did share it on my family story blog but shucky darn not to many people can see that one...which is probably why DH didn't mind! *snicker*

Anyway I hope you enjoyed hearing about one of my most embarrassing moments, I have to admit it IS funny...least to those of us who where there.

Live well...Laugh often...Love Much & Praise God for the chance to.

I did it again...

Why oh WHY do I have the problem of saying one thing, and having it seem like it means something totally different from what I meant for it to? I have that trouble quite often, you would think I would get to where I wouldn't, but no, it keeps happening. It amuses DH and amazes him at the same time, cause he doesn't know how I keep doing it either, or how I come up with some of the things I've said...as he says "even Hollywood writers couldn't write this stuff". *giggle*

Today we went to do our monthly shopping, in the big city of Lincoln Nebraska...not big by some standards, but to big for me. We don't always go to the health food store, but every two or three months there is something I need to get there, so we do. This time we were out of flax seed, so we HAD to go.

They usually have a maple sugar maple leaf, that I get for a treat, cause I just LOVE maple. Today I got the things I needed in the store, then walk up by the checkout to look for my Maple sugar fix, and didn't see any. I looked around a little bit, then one lonely little box caught my eye...it wasn't a maple leaf, but instead was a broken little "probably" puritan man, because of Thanksgiving coming up. It didn't look real good, so I said in a slightly irritated voice "all they have is a groady looking man" to DH who was standing a little bit away from me. I didn't bother looking around to see who else was around, didn't think about how it could sound even. Then as soon as I said it, I looked up and saw the checker standing waiting for a customer...and saw it was a young man. I wanted to die, I knew I was talking about the maple sugar, DH knew I was, but did that young man standing just a few feet away know that? Seriously, I wasn't meaning that all they had "for checkers" was a groady looking man, he wasn't bad looking, but all I could think of after I saw him was that he may not have known I was talking about that darn maple sugar. I'll never look at maple sugar the same way again.

I managed to act like nothing had happen, muttered something about not having a maple leaf, paid for my stuff and got out of there without dieing from embarrassment. I almost made it to the car, without breaking out into the embarrassed laughter that was coming, but I didn't quite make it. I leaned on DH and as I started to laugh, said "Did you hear what I said?" When he said what, I repeated it, and he said Ohh yeah I heard that, but..."*loud snicker from me* "I didn't think of it that way." *chuckle, chuckle from him* He opened the car door, and I almost fell in, laughing all the way, almost had a snort in there too, and we drove out of the parking lot, with tears pouring down my cheeks. That kept us in stitches the rest of the day, and I felt just horrible about the fact that I could have traumatized that young man for life, yet couldn't stop laughing about it. Seriously, he wasn't groady looking, he wasn't a bad looking kid, but does he believe that tonight? Or does he believe that middle aged woman in the store today, who unknowingly said something that sounded bad, if you didn't know the whole story?

I keep telling DH he should write a book, with all the things I've said in it, but so far he doesn't listen to me. He remembers things much better than I do, so I'm sure he could come up with plenty for a book. Its really no wonder, that I am kinda shy, when I can't seem to open my mouth, without something coming out of it, that wasn't intended. At least it keeps DH entertained, but I just hope I don't traumatize to many people that way. LOL

I did manage to make it through the rest of our shopping, without embarrassing myself, except for the occasional chuckle I couldn't stop, out of the blue. I'm sure there were a few people wondering what I was finding so funny, about walking around the store shopping, but at least as far as I know, none of them will have a bruised self esteem to nurse tonight, at least not because of me. To that young man in the health food store...please forgive me, I didn't mean you, when I said that unfortunate sentence!

How to take 18 years, and document them on 100 pages

1) First you have to go around and gather up all the photo's you can find, of your subject. Look in all the nooks and cranny's on your computer, as well as through all your old photo albums, and the boxes of photo's you may have laying around. Don't forget to call all the relatives, and ask if they by chance have any they can share with you.

2) Scan any photo's in, that aren't already on your computer, and if possible try to con someone else into scanning some photo's in for you also, so you don't have to. This is important, because it lets you do other things, like other layouts, cleaning that you always put off, because you're on the computer way to much, or even reading a book, one of the things you used to LOVE to do, till you discovered digital scrapbooking.

3)Next you make a folder for every year, and distribute all of the photo's into the correct folder. Its very important to have a few photo's for each year, and to know at least the year of each photo, so you can put the date on each layout, so future generations can know when the photo was taken. Of course you will always have some that don't have the date written on them, so in those you just have to try to guess and get as close as possible. I always tell myself it won't be the end of the world if my guess is wrong....hopefully I'm not lying to myself.

4)Next you double check, and make SURE you have gotten all the photo's from other people that you can, after all, you want to make sure you don't run out of photo's before you get to the end of the 100 pages.

5)Now you go to each years folder, and separate the photo's into groups. If there are several photo's that go together, either they were all taken on the same date, or were all taken on the same vacation or something like that, you put them into their own folder. You do this for ALL of the years folders.

6)Now its time to go back and figure out how many layouts you think there will be for each year...writing them down as you go, so you can go back and add them up.

7)You get out your calculator....because Math was never your best subject, and you want to make sure you get the right answer, and start adding...."WHAT? NO WAY, THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!" so you go back and add them all up again...groan....and say to yourself "I'm in trouble!!!!!"

8)After figuring out that you have WAY to many photo's, kick yourself for begging everyone for their photos, although you ended up with some great ones, you hadn't seen before, you start going through and seeing what you can possibly live without and put it in a reject folder.

9)Grab that calculator, and add the pages up again...start pulling your hair out, when the answer is STILL way to high, sigh, and go back to rejecting even more of the precious photo's that help to tell the story of your loved ones first 18 years including a few "years" folders, that didn't have very many photo's in them, even though it was really important to have at least one layout for each year.

10)Several boxes of tissues later (which were needed to wipe away the tears that fell, for each rejected photo) you are finally down to 100 layouts worth of photo's. Send up a prayer that you counted right, and didn't reject some that would have been better to use, than some others you kept.

11)Write down an outline of what each of the 100 layouts are going to be about, in your notebook, so you can mark each one off as you do them. This is a very important step, as it helps you to get over the trauma of all those rejected photo's, because you ADORE lists! They make you feel good, and as you cross each one off, you can feel like you have accomplished something.

There now, don't you feel better already?

12)Later that evening, once you are recovered mostly from all the trauma of organizing 18 years worth of photo's, get on your computer, and blog about it so you can warn others that it is IMPOSSIBLE to cram 18 years worth of memories into 100 pages!!!!!!!!!!! Don't even try, unless you have lots of hair to spare, several boxes of tissues, and a strong heart that can handle seeing yet another of those precious photo's rejected.

Feel free to show anyone else this guide, who maybe thinking of attempting the same thing I did. You may very well save their sanity.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you have probably guessed, I managed to finish getting the photo's of Kali organized today. It was not easy, there are to many I had to leave out....and I'm hoping I left enough pages for the next year and a half's worth of photo's. There really aren't that many pages left, soooo I could be in big trouble! LOL Anyway, I was feeling silly, so had to do a "guide" for anyone who thinks they want to take 18 years worth of photo's and put them into a 100 page book....not going to happen, unless you don't take that many photo's.

BTW, that isn't really a "layout" up there, I just wanted to "illustrate" my "guide" with a "pile" of photo's. *snicker*

Now that I've wasted way to much of my evening on this silliness, I better get off here and get to bed. Before I go, I just want to say if you haven't already, you really should go check out Blushbutter's newest kit!! Its got some beautiful colors in it, and can be used for many different kinds of layouts! I made myself feel better this afternoon, by downloading it, even though I may not get to play with it, till next week. Its really beautiful, as hers usually are.

I hope you enjoyed my silliness a little, *giggle* thanks for the comments, both here on my blog, and through e-mail, have a great weekend!
