Scrappin', laughin' & grumblin'.
I managed to get a couple LO's done, with Dusty Bear's newest kit! I thought these photos of some lace and pottery demonstrations at the tractor show we went to this summer would work nicely with it.
The first layout shows a lady making bobbin lace. That's something that I would so love to WANT to do, but it looks so complicated and long winded, that I just don't think I would have the patience to do it. It's beautiful stuff though and I'd sure love to know someone who did...who also wanted to make me a bunch!! *giggle* It's would be some extra special lace that's for sure, knowing how long it must have taken them to make it. :)
The 2nd layout shows a lady doing pottery. That's something I always wanted to try. I don't know that I'd actually want to do LOTS of it, but it's just one of those things I've had a hankering to try at least once in my life...and I've wanted to for years. I remember when I was growing up seeing a lady do it when we were on vacation in Minnesota and I was itching to try it then...so as you can see it's been YEARS that I've wanted to...maybe someday I can. Whenever I see it being done I just have to stop and watch. It's one thing I could have watched longer...but not being there by myself I had to move on. :(

Today was that dreaded "shopping" day when we go to the "big" city and do enough shopping to keep us fed for at least a month. With us getting older (we must be since our niece SAID we were old when we saw her last month *giggle*) shopping just isn't as fun as it was when I was a kid. However today we didn't even make it half way to the "big" city before DH did something to have me in stitches the rest of the drive. We had a good time together...at least until it was time to check out at Walmart...and then...well that's another story. LOL
On the way to the city, DH was talking on the phone to our neighbor, when he wanted to point out the road that DH and my brother went down to pick up an old truck my brother bought this weekend. Since he was talking, he couldn't just say that was the road, he went to gesture, and had his finger close to his face when he did it (why....I don't know) and he ended up flicking his glasses completely off his face and they flew into the back seat. It was a really slick and quick move, because usually they would catch and only come part way off, or end up falling into your lap, but somehow he whisked them off and tossed them back, all in the blink of an eye. He rolled his eyes (cause he was still talking on the phone...so didn't want to be rude and laugh in their ear) and I snickered and tried to turn and find them for him...but was laughing to much so I couldn't, he had to pull over and find them himself. I managed to not get to noisy with my laughter till he got off the phone. I just kept seeing the look on his face, and it keep cracking me up over and over, all the way to the city. I know...you had to be there to find it as funny as I did...but really it WAS funny!
We laughed and joked our way through the day till we got in line to check out at wally, and got the WORST checker EVER. I have nothing against older people, I love them to death, however there are some jobs they really SHOULDN'T give to them, least not if they are like this guy was. He had to ask what any of the vegetables were, so he could look them up and get the number (which he did in the slowest possible way), and was extremely SLOW moving, I swear we stood in line for at least a half hour as he rung us up. Yes we had a bunch of stuff...but not THAT much. We joked about it at first...but there is only so much we can take of that, and by the time we were finally able to leave, even DH was having trouble joking about it...and he always has a joke handy to lighten any situation.
For the last couple years I have hated to go to walmart, because every time I do, I find something else I hate about that store...if we could afford it, we wouldn't bother going back so we didn't constantly have a bad shopping experience, but there are some things they are just cheaper on...and we can't afford to pay more for something just to avoid them. Oh well, I guess we can't laugh ALL day! LOL I would have complained about it if I thought they would just move him to a different job in the store (he would make a great greeter...just not a very good checker) and not fire him...but there was no way I wanted to get him fired, if he needed the job, so we just left grumbling and and got on with our day. We survived, and got to laughing together again, so we still had a good day together. :)
