Really simple project
I just had to share this project I'm working on with you, before I get busy with spending time with family and don't have time to post it. Not sure what this next week will be like, so I figured I better do this now, while I have the chance.
I know, I know...some of you may recall that I promised myself I wouldn't start another project once I got Kali's book finished, except to work on my yearly books. Well this doesn't really count, cause all the pages are the same except for the photo, title and description....does it? *giggle* I wouldn't be doing it except for the fact that since mypictales took so long to get my books sent to me, they gave me a coupon good for $40.00 off another book, but I have to use it by August 12, or it will be no good. So I got to wondering what I could do quickly, so I could use it, and not loose it...since there is no way to get my 2006 book finished by then and the chances of it being under 160 pages isn't good anyway.
I finally thought that it would be kinda neat to have a book of "Scene's of Home" just a small one that shows some of my favorite things about this beautiful home God has blessed us with. However in order to do it quickly, I wanted to figure out a background that I could use for each page, and only have one photo per page...except a few pages will have two...if I couldn't choose between the two photo's. LOL I also wanted it to be more about the photos than than anything else, so I wanted the photo to cover most of the page, with a little room left for the title and short description & date.
So I got to playing and trying to figure out what color would work with most everything, and finally came up with blue. Then I thought it needed a mat under the photo so went with a brown, since it would go with most everything. I put a flourish in two corners, cause it added to the page, and I love swirls, and left it at that (except for the ones that have two photos and then I used a stitch to "hold" it on the page).
I am not totally happy with the pages where the photo is vertical, instead of horizontal, because there isn't as much room for a title...but I'll live. Most of the pages are like these 4, where the photo is horizontal.
Course I'm not exactly thrilled about some of the title's I've come up with so far either, but I guess they will work. *giggle* Title's aren't my strong suit. And if anyone can come up with a better title for the whole book than "Scene's of Home" feel free to let me know...it's not "perfect" but I can't think of anything different.
So what do you think of my latest project? Is it TO simple...or to boring? Am I going to get it and think "What were you thinking?" I mean I do love to let the photo be the main thing a lot of the time, cause for one thing, ummm it's easier that way...and I suck at clusters for the most part. BUT, this project doesn't have much BUT the photos, and I don't know if they should really stand alone or not? So feel free to tell me what you think, good or bad...just don't be MEAN about it please. Oh and don't get upset if I end up not taking your advice either. LOL
Thanks for any advice you do give me! And hey, I'm finally doing a "special" project just for me...wow, hadn't thought of that before. Course since the only reason is to use the coupon (I won't be paying much more than shipping I don't think)...maybe it shouldn't really count as doing something for myself. *giggle*
Oh well, just a few more pages to go....then the cover to figure out and I'll be done. But...One of our nieces is going to be spending a week or so with us so that could slow me down on this. If I'm not around much, it's because I'm spending time with her...and I'm looking forward to it a lot to! :)
Oh and I'm really glad you liked my last post, I got a few e-mails from you about that one, so thought I'd say thanks again here! :)
Have a great weekend!
I think it's a cool idea! ... We don't have a big enough place to do something like that, but if we did, I would totally steal your idea! *lol*
