Wild Plums
I've never done anything with wild plums before, but this year I thought I'd try to make some jam. DH has picked me 2/3's of a 5 gallon bucket full now and I've washed and sorted them so they are ready to work with in the morning if all goes well.
There were 2 or 3 different kinds of plums, just a few of them were a little larger variety and mostly a yellowish orange with a blush of red on some of them. The vast majority of them were small and reddish. I have no idea which tastes the best, but they will all be mixed together so it won't really matter. I'm hoping the jam/jelly turns out yummy! I'll try to remember to let you know tomorrow, or next week if it is...or if it even turns out ok, as I've only made jelly once before, and that was a different kind. :)
Wish me luck! *giggle* Oh and the pears are still hard...so guess they won't get canned till next week sometime. If they are still hard towards the end of next week....I may just try canning them anyway. I've never canned pears either cause they aren't my favorite thing but Galen likes them and what else can I do with them anyway, there are more on the trees this year than there have been and I hate to waste them all.
It was suppose to rain several days this week but alas we didn't get any till today and then it's only a little. It probably went east and gave my parents a bunch since they have been getting way more than their share this year. LOL
I hope everyone is having a great week! Take care out there and thanks so much for your comments. :)
Did you take that picture???? ... Because it looks so... so... Perfect! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteYes I did...perfect huh...don't know about that but Thanks! LOL
ReplyDeleteI wanted to show the plums I'd be using....so got a couple of pretty glasses out of my china cabinet and put them on our dinning room table (cause I LOVE the wood) and took some photos. I took some with both glasses upright but it just didn't work for me, so I tipped the one over and liked the photos much better.
No, we didn't get any rain this time. Not even a drop, as far as I know. It has been cloudy, though.
ReplyDeleteYour picture of the plums turned out really pretty. Nice still life photo.
