Our Quick Trip to Missouri
As I mentioned in my post yesterday we made a quick trip to my parents this weekend. We went to Missouri Days, a festival they have in my old home town, and which has really grown since the last time I went...course that was before we got married. It was good to see my family again, even though we had to make it quick so as to not miss to many milkings with Mabel. I don't think Mabel would have liked it to well had we stayed longer. LOL
It was a beautiful drive over there and back, and we finally got some sunshine...we had been without it for a week and had missed it. The trees were turning and over there they have more of a variety of colors which I have always loved. There were still a lot of green leaves, but the color mixed in really looked beautiful.
We got to meet my niece's boyfriend who seemed really nice and a lot of fun. My brother was acting goofy (embarrassing my niece) and her boyfriend joined right in with him. *giggle* My DH admired Kali's boyfriends car which was a 1963 something or other (can you tell I know nothing about cars? *snicker*) and we talked for a little while till we had to drive Kali home so she could help her Grandmother with chores.
I got a doxie "puppy fix", as you can tell from yesterdays post...which is actually not a good thing since now I want one, and Kali wanted a photo of her and all three of her dogs to so I took some. It's hard to get three dogs to look right at the camera...or at least look in the same general direction. I would have preferred them to be looking at me I think, but this one is one of the cutest ones so I guess I can live with them just looking in the same direction. Isn't her new doxie puppy the cutest thing? Course most ALL doxie puppies are! LOL
Sunday morning we got up and got started on our day early...after a late night talking. It was a beautiful morning although there was frost on the ground. I walked around and got some photos of their farm like I usually have to do and DH and my Dad caught birds....and filled several boxes with them for us to bring home, more animals for my hubby to enjoy! Thanks Dad...oh and Mark to!! LOL :)
My Dad sent home some baby ducks and their Mom for us and the youngest babies are just adorable. This is one of them, I just love the bright yellow ones, you can see more on our flicker account. The Momma duck has taken over mothering the little bit older ducklings we brought home too, so she has a BIG brood!!
We also brought home three young turkeys, so hopefully we can start raising our own turkey dinners...some of my brothers pigeons, as DH has been wanting to get some of them...although it would have been nice to have a place all ready for them but it seems that never happens...we get the animal then have to get a spot for them. *giggle* We also brought home some of those horrible guineas that I hate...but their days are numbered...and they will end up in our freezer. Mom & Dad still have a ton of birds around there...the ones we brought home didn't hardly make a dent least I don't think they did. LOL
All in all it was a great trip and I'm really glad we were able to go, even though it was to quick of a trip. If you are interested there are more trip photos on flicker...although you will probably have to go back a page or two, as my DH has added some others.
I've made my 2nd batch of butter today so least now I know that the last time wasn't a fluke...I should be able to keep making it and getting it to turn out. LOL Gotta work on class work now, so better get busy. I have yet to get any scrapping done...but guess if I get my class finished it won't matter, cause that has to be done too. Hope you all are having a great week! Take Care.
