Redneck Bath Time

AHHHH.....

I'm telling you, it's never boring around here...least not for long. Here it is, freezing cold outside, deep snowdrifts still covering the ground and Fudge decides he has to go for a swim in the stock tank that holds the goats and cows drinking water. DH thinks he may have thought it was solid, so maybe there was a thin coating of ice on it, but still you would think he would know better...especially in this cold weather.

So Fudge is now inside the house...he got put in a tub of warm water when he first came inside, and while he didn't like it at first once he figured out it was nice and warm he lay down and enjoyed it.

Second Bath Of The Day

DH poured warm water over his back, so he got it everywhere and could warm up faster. He didn't even mind that, even when it got in his eyes he didn't put up to much of a fuss...he was cold, and it was warm, so he didn't care where it got.

Little "Helpers"

The Dogs are kinda going a little crazy, they never like it when we have new animals in the house. In the above photo you can see they had to get up so they could see what was going on...even though I said the B word! ("BATH!" They don't like baths. LOL)

Dry Cycle

We finally let the water out of the tub, and he decided since the warm water was gone, it was time to get out...so the dry cycle had to be done. Then we put him in the Utility room with one of the dog blankets over him for a while, till he finished getting warm enough to move around again. Course then he decides to play a trick on me and make me make a fool of myself....like that's hard to do. *giggle*

Moving around

Here I am, in the kitchen cutting DH's hair and the dogs go running into the dinning room. So DH looks and yep Fudge has moved over to the doorway into the dinning room and is looking over the board we have there blocking him in.

We go back to cutting his hair with the electric hair clippers and a little later, when I'm almost done I think the clippers were making a strange humming sound. They WERE making a strange noise earlier btw. I open my big mouth and say something to DH about the clippers making a strange humming sound and THEN....BAAAAA, we hear Fudge. Oh boy, I just lost it, it seems that he started out low, and when that didn't get him any satisfaction he got louder. DH didn't hear him till he was louder, but I heard him just enough that with the hair clippers going I couldn't tell where it was coming from and thought it was them. Thankfully we were pretty much finished cutting his hair, because I was unable to see for a while after that from the tears running down my face because I was laughing so hard. It really was funny...to us anyway, but maybe ya had to be there. LOL

Anyway now Fudge is moving around more, and eating (He is going to get spoiled since he is getting some extra yummy food that he doesn't have to fight to get) so maybe he will actually make it after his cold swim this morning. Hopefully he doesn't get sick because of it. He looks like he needs some fattening up though, I think the ladies he has been with have kinda been a little mean to him, so DH thinks he will put him in with the dairy goats for a while...they aren't as pushy so maybe he can get fattened up over with them.

It's sure been a bad year for goats here...hopefully next year is better.

DH's blog may have a post later with more info, since he saw the outside part...and he is much better at the story telling too...so you can check there later! :) Edited: His post is here.

Oh and yep...ya just might be a Redneck Hillbilly if ya give your goat a bath in your own bathtub. *snicker*

  1. Poor goat! That must have been COLD, falling in the water like that! Bet he was glad to be warmed up!
