A Strange Week
This has been a strange week, between Hillbilly baths, earthquakes (IN Nebraska?) and the neighbors having a break in and DH helping them when the cops arrived we have had more than our fair share of excitement. The hillbilly bath of course I already told you about in my last post, but the earthquake happened that night after I posted.
We were sitting in the living room just ready to start another episode of the current show we are watching on DVD, when we heard a noise and the house shook. It sounded like a distant explosion to me (I know....I've been watching to many JAG and Walker Texas Ranger episodes! *giggle*) so we jumped up (as fast as a middle age fat woman and middle aged decrepit man can that is) and went looking around to see if we could see anything wrong...inside and out. DH finally settled on it being ice related...which I couldn't disagree with since I didn't know what it was and we went back to watch another show.
Then the neighbor calls and asks if we heard it too...which meant it couldn't be ice related if they heard it. LOL The next morning we found out there had been a small earthquake. I didn't know a earthquake would sound like that, but then I don't remember ever realizing there had been one before...so what do I know. I guess there have been small ones here over the last several years, that's just the only one I heard and felt. This is NEBRASKA...there isn't suppose to be earthquakes here! LOL Ok I know there is a fault line close, but still, it's not something I ever worry about here, cause they just don't happen much...hopefully that's the most I ever feel when it comes to a earthquake, I don't really care to experience a "real" one! LOL
That next morning we also hear that the neighbor can't find his wallet so DH goes up to help him and his wife look for it and gets in the middle of a police investigation. It turns out they had had someone break into their house that night while they were sleeping, and they had a few things stolen...and the crook used their phone. I of course can't really say much more...as I wasn't there, and he has yet to go on trial for his sins, but I just have to say that...Stupid people just SHOULDN'T be criminals...not that anyone should, but if you have to be, try to be a little bit smart so the cops have to work a little to find you! *giggle*
I went out to see the animals today while it was warmer...well warmer than it has been LOL...and when DH said Mabel was waiting by the back door I stood back and he let her in to see if she would come all the way in when she saw me. She thought about turning around, however with DH behind her she got brave and walked by me. She got rewarded for her troubles by getting some extra grain...and I had to rub her fat belly. There is just something about an animals fat furry belly I can't ignore. She seems to have a big enough one, and IF she is with calf, she isn't much more than 4 months along, so I don't think the belly is all calf. LOL
Anyway while we were in with her Belle snuck into the barn and went over kinda behind some bales and chowed down. I think she must have thought we couldn't see her if her head was down where we couldn't see it, but little did she know we could. LOL I had to get a photo of her when she saw us. :)
She ran over towards the door then stopped and looked at us...waiting for us to go back to Mabel so she could sneak back. Silly cow...like we can't read her mind. *giggle* She is kinda cute though, so we let her sneak back for another bite or two, before chasing her out again. :)
Pest just sat on a board and watched all the happenings...and then tried to snag me as I walked by. She (or is it a he...we still aren't for sure about that) wanted to play. LOL
All in all, even though it was kinda a dreary day, it was a good day. Least we (so far) haven't had more strange happenings. I hope everyone has a great weekend! :)

We don't get many earthquakes either. Usually, *if* we get them, they are too small to notice... But, back in '93 we had one that was 5-something on the rhictor (sp?) scale... THAT was interesting, and scary! They called it the Spring Break Quake. *lol* I was getting ready for work and the house gave a jerk. I thought that a big rig had run into the house... But then it kept shaking, and as I stood there watching the wall shake, it dawned on me what it was... Notice that standing in the doorway never even entered my mind. *rofl*
