Beautiful Frost

Hoar Frost

I've always loved hoar frost, it covers everything and makes it white and beautiful. This morning we woke up to fog...which had frozen all over the north sides of everything and created some extra beauty for us to enjoy. Unfortunately I messed up and had a setting on my camera wrong, so most of my photos ended up not being as good as they should be...but *sigh* I guess I'll live. LOL

I just love how there were little spikes of ice crystals all over everything, weeds, trees, fences, everything that they would stick to had them...least on the north side of the object. Course I'm still partial to the trees my parents have on their farm, so I think they are more beautiful when covered with frost...but it was still pretty here, as we looked around at all the beauty God had left for us to find this morning.

Beautiful Trees

Looking out over the trees at the back of our property we could see they were covered to, as they were whiter than usual...but it was hard to see some of them cause of the fog. Course the fog kinda added to the beauty to I thought.

Hoar Frost

I sure loved seeing the fences though...they were so cool with the little spikes all over them.

Eventually I had to quite taking photos...cause my battery died, and I didn't take my other one out with me. Course I could have come back and gotten my other one and went back out but I had bunches of photos, and doubt I'd have caught the setting problem I had till to late anyway, so it's just as well I didn't. I had other things to do anyway. There are lots more on flicker, if you are interested.

In other news:

We had tried to make homemade cottage cheese when we first started making our own cheese, and it didn't turn out so good. However it's something I wanted to try again, and so I looked online for a different recipe and found one I wanted to try when I got around to it. So today I set out to try it, and this time it turned out pretty good!! Not sure if it really taste's like "homemade cottage cheese" is suppose to taste like (cause it's been years since I've had any), but it's yummy anyway. LOL

If we don't add cream to the cheese to make it more like cottage cheese is suppose to be, we can use it in other things...like pizza, or anything you would want a dryer crumbly cheese for. It's easy to make, so I'm sure I'll be trying it again soon. In fact I want to try something, that if it works will make it even easier to make! LOL Not like I'll be out much if it doesn't work, the chickens will still like it, and it's good for them in these cold winter months.

I was sitting down to crop and mess with my photos before I put them on flicker this afternoon, when my computer seemed to be taking forever to do things. Since I've had that trouble before I figured I knew what it was and so looked at how much space was left on my hard drive...and sure enough it was full. I have all my scrapbooking things on a EHD, instead of the one on my computer, because of this problem, but my photos are still on my computer, so I can access them whenever I want to...and I want them in as many places as possible so maybe I won't loose them.

However I took so many photos last year, and kept the huge number of rejects, just in case I ever decided I needed them that I filled up the extra space I had found, when I took off the scrapbooking things last year. It's sad really, cause I made sure my photos were backed up on my EHD, then I dumped just the reject photos off my computer hard drive...and got back almost 60 gig! *giggle* Yes I really did take to many photos last year didn't I! ROFL

I REALLY need at least a terabyte hard drive ON my computer I'm thinking! *snicker* And even then I'm sure I will have trouble sooner than you would think...if I keep taking so many photos. I can see I'm going to have to be getting me ANOTHER EHD sooner than I like too. *groan* DH laughed at me today when I said that one of my EHD's only has 500 gigs on it. He said "ONLY?". I tell you between photos and scrapbooking...I can't ever have TO MUCH space. LOL

Anyway, between spending some time outside in the frost, making cottage cheese, butter and doing some cleaning and backups I ran out of time for everything I wanted to do today. Story of my life! *giggle* There is always tomorrow...and if I run out of those, well I guess I won't care at that point if I didn't finish everything. It's suppose to be back up into the 40's here again and I'm looking forward to that!! :)

Have a great weekend!

  2. And I thought I took a lot of pictures! *rofl* ... I have all my photos and video clips on one EHD, then I have another EHD with all my digi-scrap kits and layouts. Then I have a 3rd EHD for my iTunes movies, TV shows, etc... All three of the EHDs are about full, or completely full... Need to get some more with tax returns. *lol*
