Our little Casanova
Yesterday I managed to pry myself away from chores and studying up on making soaps & lotions to go outside for a little bit and see the new goats in the daylight. I looked in on the puppies, but with little time and the fact that they were sleeping peacefully (which you can see here) I just snapped a photo and went on out to the barn yard.
Our new little black billy, was having lots of fun (till I got there) chasing the nannies around. We haven't settled on a name for him yet...I wondered about Blaze, cause of the white on his forehead, but I don't think DH likes that name, he called him Black Knight in his post about when we got them (here)which I think is kinda cool...although I think I'd just call him Knight, or we could go with Casanova because he seems to really like the ladies. *giggle*
Anyway, I was standing there watching the goats, and trying for some good photos of the new ones, while "Casanova" was running a few of the nannies around the yard, when Shadow showed up wanting attention. He wondered around the goats some, seeing what they were up to, and Casanova turned and looked behind him and saw that Shadow was there so he turned took a couple hops, and jumped into the middle of a gaggle of ladies who were around the hay feeder and landed in the feeder. I had to laugh at him, cause there he was acting all macho and all, and yet the moment he notices Shadow is to close he goes running for cover. *giggle* I suppose I shouldn't laugh...after all he is a little young still...but I couldn't help myself. I don't think he was to amused at being laughed at though. *snicker*
Course then I REALLY ruined his fun, and mentioned to DH that we should put all the goats together, cause the other little Boer billy we had, he had put in with the milk goats...cause he didn't know if the little Nubian billy was doing his job, so figured least this way maybe the Nubian's would have some babies this summer...if they weren't already with child, and we would get some goat milk. I said I'd rather have the black one get them, if they did come into heat...so DH opened the gate, so they could all mingle.
Every one thought that was great...including Casanova, till he found the other little billy...and then the fun was over, and the fighting started. This is what they were doing when I left to come back inside...after watching them for a little while. LOL They have to decide who is going to be top dog...or ummm goat, so the nannies got some peace...and the two billies locked horns for a while. DH said this morning the black one was chasing the bigger nannies around...while the other one was stuck chasing one of the runts we have around. I don't know if that means the black one won and gets his choice....or if they are just taking a break for now. LOL Either way I still got a laugh out of all the barnyard shenanigans yesterday. I do enjoy our goats. :)
There are a few more goat photos from yesterday on flicker, for anyone interested. I gotta run, got to much to do today and the day is half over already! Gotta get some lunch for us, then get busy again. Hope everyone has a great day!!

I think Casanova is a great name for him!!!
