Autumn hits the jackpot
Last night, while we were watching a DVD, lounging in our comfy recliners, DH was eating the last of the apple crisp I made on Saturday when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye, I saw Autumn (who was sitting on his lap watching him intently) make a sudden move then get scolded by DH and told to get down. I looked over to see her chewing as she started to jump down, so told her to get in her bed, thinking she had gotten brave enough to steal something out of DH's bowl. I should have known better, cause she knows better than to do that...I think. As she half ran across the living room floor towards her bed in DH's office, I saw her still chewing away, and started giggling, cause it looked funny....plus she had to have gotten a nice big chunk of DH's desert to still be chewing it.
Keep in mind that Apple's are Autumns FAVORITE food...so she will be extra fast when it comes to acquiring some! I asked DH how she managed to get her face in his bowl and he said she didn't, she snagged a chunk that fell off his spoon, before it landed on his chest. That made me really start laughing, cause that is something I KNOW she is good at doing...which is one reason she isn't allowed on my lap when I'm eating, cause if I happen to be a slob (which I can be from time to time....ok a lot of the time) I don't care to have her lunging up to get whatever it happens to be that falls off my fork.
This time she really hit the jackpot though, she got a nice sized chunk of the apple coated granola topping, so she probably figured it was worth getting into trouble. Once I found out she hadn't stolen it out of his dish, I called her, and finally went to see where she was...and...gee, big surprise....she wasn't in her bed, thinking about her sins, (as IF dogs would do that anyway), she was outside...Digging in the yard. Silly mutt, hit the jackpot of apple flavored yummy stuff, then goes out and enjoys one of her favorite springtime activities. If you look close you can see the dirt on her toenails in the photo above. *sigh* We get no respect around here out of our animals...I'm telling ya, they just go and do what they want to do, and only occasionally listen to us...if they think we are REALLY mad at them. The Doxie's are the worst of the lot too...course it doesn't help that they know my giggle and know they aren't in that much trouble if they hear it. *giggle*
I think I'll see those short little legs of Autumns running across the living room with her head kinda down and out, chewing away on that yummy bite for a long while...*snicker* yep it still makes me laugh at the memory!
Gotta love them for the entertainment they provide us I guess...not to mention the unconditional love that they give us, even when we mess up and think they did something they didn't. :)

Loved that story and your girl Autumn is beautiful! Doxies are the best!
