Doxie Designs Stories of Yesteryear Freebie
This is not a freebie anymore, it is however in my store here, if you would like to buy it. Sorry if you missed it as a freebie!
How many of you journal on your layouts? I realize that there isn't lots to say, for some pictures, but for others, they have a story, that would be really interesting for your family to know in the future. I was taught by my Uncle Orison, that its really important to get the names and dates as much as possible on pictures, so I usually try to do at least that much journaling. However, if there is a story, or just an interesting tidbit, that goes with the pictures, I have also been trying to get that with them too.
This kit, was born, because I have a love for a good story, and I think its important to read to your children, as well as to tell stories with your photo's, and journaling on a page. If you make scrapbook pages, with journaling on them, not just pictures, that will make the album all the more precious to your family, in the future. Maybe one day, your grand kids...great nieces and nephews...or whoever is important in your life, will want to read your scrapbooks, not just other storybooks. So try some journaling on your scrapbook pages, its a great way to save your story, for future generations!!
Your journaling doesn't have to be perfect, or anything, it will mean a lot more, if it sounds like you... like you are sitting there telling the story, in your own words, and your own way. That way, it will seem like you are close to them, even if you are miles away, or long gone. So don't worry about it not being good enough, you are leaving part of yourself on the page, and that's all that matters. This is a layout I made, with Stories of Yesteryear and the journaling reads:
Galen called me one day, on his cell phone, and told me to grab my camera, and step out the front door, and take his picture. I got out there, and saw him walking across the yard toward me like this.
I snapped a couple pictures, and then he put them on one of his forums that has a liars spot, for joking around, saying this was his barn hen, Falcon, and that he was teaching her to hunt rabbits.
I thought it really did fit the photo, even though he isn't doing that. LOL His chickens are just way to friendly. He enjoys them though, so I guess that’s ok!
I just had to do a layout with some journaling, cause I do love books in kits, even though I don't think my book is real great. I am not real great with the burn tool yet, so the book doesn't look fantastic. Hopefully there is something in this kit, that you can use though!! I hope you enjoy it, and if you use it, and can, I would love for you to leave me a link on my blog, so I can go view your layout! I had fun making it, and learned a few new things, so I guess that counts for something! :) Special thanks to Bannerwoman, Monica Larson, and atomic cupcake for commercial use items, used in the making of this kit.
Download link will be gone by the end of Oct, sorry if you missed it! Please leave me a comment on my blog, if you download it!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
