A Beautiful Day

Today was a beautiful day, it was warm, especially for the middle of winter here in the wilds of Nebraska, and the sunset we enjoyed together was beautiful too. Usually I'm in the middle of making supper when I look out and see the beautiful sky, but tonight, since we were having homemade pizza, and I had it made ready for the oven already, I was able to go get some photos of one of my favorite things...God's beautiful sunsets. There are several more photos on flicker.

With the warm temps, I took my camera and went out to see what photos I could get of our animals in the barn yard, hoping the kids would play on the dirt pile again, and I could get another one of them jumping around, but they seemed to want to play else where today. I caught a couple of them racing around, but nothing spectacular. Tractor buddy was out wanting lots of attention, as was the pest, otherwise known as Buckingham, our billy. The big news in the barn yard today, was the two roosters that decided they had to fight...and fight....and fight...and fight some more.

They started fighting across the barn yard, so at first we didn't see them, but eventually the fight came to our attention.

This is what is known as the chicken dance....

You spread your wings, and jump up in the air.

Ok not really. That's just what it looked like to me, as I was looking at the pictures. *giggle*

They moved across the barn yard, dodging the goats yet not really paying attention to anything but each other. They were intent on being the victor, at whatever cost.

They ignored the kid that came to investigate, and who told them to stop...

And as one got tired out, it would duck under the other, and sit there for a little bit, before pushing through his legs, and then having it all start again.

They had us watching them, and some of the goats from time to time, along with one of our cats "tractor buddy".

While I know this is something that they do, and they have to do it, to find out who is going to be top dog...errr chicken, after awhile, when they keep at it, and we are around, we finally try to stop it. DH picked one up, and tossed it over the fence, to try to separate them, hoping they would each go their separate ways.

However the one left on the ground started crowing, like he was declaring himself the winner, so when the other hit the ground on the other side of the fence, he came back to the fence, and challenged the remaining rooster....through the fence.

They fought that way for a while, till DH picked up the remaining rooster and took him around to the other side of the barn. Who knows if they will fight it out tonight, while they are locked in the chicken house together...I guess we will find out if they fight to the death tonight, when DH goes out to feed them in the morning.

Now you can see why I mentioned us being in the "wilds of Nebraska"...cause we have some wild and crazy chicken's running around here....well ok roosters.

I've really got to get out of the barn yard and find something else to take photo's of...these animal/bird photo's are getting out of hand!

I'll leave you with another of the beautiful sunset we had tonight, hope it helps make up for the nasty fight photos. LOL Have a great weekend, I've got ps homework to work on tomorrow, so doubt I'll be scrapping, or taking to many photo's. I'm actually beginning to wonder why I wanted a camera that took good photos (or would, if I knew what I was doing more) and didn't have the lag I hate so much, cause now I take WAY TO MANY photos! *giggle*

  1. These are all some really good and interesting pictures. The colors are so vivid. I like that picture of the little goat with the roosters. Of course I like them all.
