Friends, Goats...Life
I had a good weekend, I enjoyed watching my friend and her son enjoy the goats, cats & Dogs, enjoyed the chatting, and enjoyed our goats myself. I felt better, which helped and didn't even have as red a nose as usual, after being sick and blowing it lots, so that was a plus! LOL I even got caught up on my homework Monday and Tuesday, so hopefully I'll be able to get back to doing more scrapping soon.
This first photo is Jamie and Dustin (and DH) saying Hi to Star, with Yani trying to horn in and get lots of attention too. Jamie loved Yani and threatened to take her home with her, as well as Tractor Buddy who got lots of attention from both Jamie and her son Dustin. Tractor Buddy was her usual charming, silly, playful self, and even "attacked" Jamie, one time when she was petting Yani. Tractor Buddy jumped onto Jamie's back and started playing in her hair. It was kinda funny, and I got a couple photos of it on flicker...along with more of their visit and our new goats.
Rosy had her babies on Sat, so they could see them, but unfortunately two of them didn't make it. They were so tiny, not sure if it's because there were three of them or not, but they were really cute and it's sad they didn't make it. Winny's didn't either, we aren't having good luck with our babies this year again. We are even getting milk now, since Whinny doesn't have any babies to feed. (This is one of Rosy's babies and a chicken who wouldn't find a new nest, so I had to get a photo of them cause I thought it was cute. She even left us an egg and it didn't get broken!! LOL)
DH went to pick up some goat kids yesterday from the lady we got Whinny and Rosy from, that need bottle fed, so we are milking Rosy (because she has more milk than her one baby can handle) and feeding the kids that, plus any of Whinny's that is needed...so that will cut down on how much milk we actually have to make cheese for a little while. That's ok though, cause it's fun to have the babies running around and it won't be forever. Whinny has picked up a little on how much milk she is giving us, it's up to almost two qt a day...when she started it was only one. Course that's nothing compared to what we have heard other people are getting from their Nubian's but....maybe she will pick up more as she goes along...or maybe she just doesn't want to give us lots. *giggle* I think Rosy may have more milk, but we aren't really milking her into the same bucket yet, so can't tell for sure.
This is my favorite of the 5 babies DH came home with yesterday, it's a Nubian billy, and we will probably keep him for our Nubian Nannies...he is a cutie and we love his coloring (and just look at those wonderful ears! *giggle*). DH also came home with 4 more full grown nannies...two Nubian and two Alpine, which is another kind of milk goat. We could have milk coming out our ears, if they are all ever in milk at the same time! LOL The other babies he brought home are Alpine billies too. More photos of all of them on flicker too. The best part about it is all of them were FREE!! The lady we got them from has to many, I'm not sure why she isn't selling them, instead of giving them to us, but I think she loves them and hates to get rid of them, yet has to, so thought she would give them to us, since we love our goats too. Anyway, it's cool that DH is using his scrounging abilities to get us some more goats too! LOL
Anyway, as you can see life has been busy for the past week...which is why I haven't posted for a while. I am finished with two of my three classes for the month, and will only be taking one next month, so hopefully I'll have more time to scrap, and even manage to get started on another kit...or finish one I started last year...just depends on if I can think of what to put in it. LOL Anyway hopefully I'll be able to post more often again, but I won't hold my breath. Spring is coming which could cut down on how much computer time I have, depending on what is going on around here. It's finally really greening up...that's just been in the last few days, because when Jamie got up here on Friday she commented on how brown it still was here. It's nice to see the green grass coming through more now. I heard some frogs the other day, not lots, like I love, but least I did hear some...I'm still waiting for the frog chorus though, it seems to be later this year.
I hope you all are having a good week! Take Care. :)
