Baby Chicks

DH found a chicken sitting on eggs in the barn a few weeks ago and the last couple of days her eggs have been hatching! This is one of those little baby chicks, aren't they so cute...I just love babies!


DH moved the mom and her babies into part of the brooder house today. He put them in a black tote because it's bigger and warmer than were she was at. I stood and watched them for a little while cause I just love watching a mother hen with her chicks.

She was trying to teach them to eat feed this morning...and they were so cute. I loved how they would watch her so they could learn. The only problem is she should have picked some of the smaller feed...cause that piece of corn she has in her mouth is to big for them. LOL She would drop it, and they would peck at it...but couldn't of course eat it.


She has 13 of them so far, most of them were under her in that 2nd photo but then she moved so we could see more of them. It's amazing how so many can get under her to stay warm.


Needless to say I enjoyed going to visit them, they are so cute when they are tiny like this...but they grow fast and loose that new baby cuteness. LOL

DH thinks there might be at least a couple of the eggs that are left that are still good, so she could still have a couple more babies in the next day or two. She has a nice sized brood as it is now though. :)
