Chicken Soup for the flu
It seems we brought more back from Kansas than we thought. I had hoped that we would manage to leave it behind, but DH has come down with the flu, that the kids had just been getting over down there. This means I am probably going to end up getting it from him, which is what usually happens, I'm hoping I don't, but with as tired as I'm feeling right now, I have to wonder if that's the first stage. Last winter we didn't get sick at all, and I was sure hoping it would happen this winter too, but I guess that's to much to hope for. LOL
I made some of my homemade chicken noodle soup today...course I cheated and bought the frozen noodles instead of making my own, but they are almost as good as homemade, because they are thick and yummy. We both love it, although I don't make it all that often, because we try to limit our pasta in take with DH having to watch his carbs, but with him not feeling well I thought I would, besides it really sounded good.
This is one of the few things I cook, that I don't measure out what I use in it...water, chicken bullion, dried parsley, diced onion, diced uncooked chicken breast, diced carrots and 3 bay leaves, simmer for a while till everything is good and done, then remove the bay leaves....if you can find them....and add the noodles, cook till they are done. Sometimes a touch of Mrs Dash is good in it, although I didn't use it this time. I don't usually really like soup, but this is one I love!
While I was making it, Rascal decieded to con me out of some of the chicken fat. Usually I leave it for them to have later, but this time I felt sorry for him, because I knew Autumn was on our bed with DH, but I thought he had been left out for some reason, so I gave him a couple pieces, since I felt sorry for him, without Autumn getting any...come to find out later, he HAD been on the bed, and wanted down, when he heard me in the kitchen. He IS a little con artist!! I had been in the bedroom earlier and seen him on the floor, so later when he was out in the kitchen looking all hurt, because he wasn't getting any attention (I thought), I gave in, and fell for his "poor little me" line...He's good, He's REAL good!!! They don't usually get me quite that good, DH is the one they sucker the most....but I have to admit, Rascal got me good this time around!! *giggle*
Anyway, I'm thinking I won't be getting any scrappin done this week after all. I have gotten caught up on my photoshop classes so I'm happy about that! :)
Since I doubt I'll manage to scrap tomorrow, have a good weekend!
Yup. He's a little Con Man! He wanted me to have him on my lap all morning yesterday, while I was washing their bed. He wouldn't leave me alone!
ReplyDeleteThe soup was great, BTW.
That looks Yummy!
ReplyDeleteHope by now you are both feeling better.
