Politics

Older people have always been, a big part of my life, I have had them as friends from very young, and enjoyed talking to them and learning from them. It doesn't matter if they are my Grandparents, or relatives or not, I've always had a healthy respect for them and their experiences that their added years have given to them. I think that older people have a lot to teach the young, and should be given that opportunity.

It would seem though, that the newly elected president and his buddies think differently. As you all know, if you have been reading my blog for any length of time now, I don't discuss politics, it's just not something I care to get into, and frankly don't go out searching and keeping track of what all goes on. What I learn, I learn from those around me telling me. I worry to much, to actually WANT to keep up on what is going on in our government, cause I really don't want to worry even more, it's bad for your health, don't you know! LOL

Anyway, this just disgusted me when DH told me this morning, about the health care thing that got snuck into the stimulus package. He told me that one of our neighbor's actually got a call from her Dr, saying to come in and get a shot, that she usually gets in March, to help her Osteoporosis, because she may not be able to get it next month. Frankly I'm not one to really want to see the Dr, or take all their drugs, but sometimes you just have to. And its OUR decision if we do so, NOT the governments. It seems that with the health care package that just passed, the Government is now going to be able to say who lives and dies, and when. If you are older, and they don't think you will live for to many more years, they can say you can't get a treatment that may save your life, or extend it for several years.

I actually went out looking on the net for a little more about this, and so far haven't found lots, (Ok so I didn't look TOO hard, after all, there is that worry factor I want to avoid, as much as possible) but I did find this blog here. Now I know you can find pretty much anything that you want to online, and so you have to take everything you read with a grain of salt, and believe what you want to at your own cost. However when you hear it from a Dr, you know there must be something to it, when they already know about it. Not that I believe everything a Dr tells me either (far from it), but this I have a tendency to believe. DH said that Rush Limbaugh was talking about it too, I've never really liked him myself (Rush, not my DH *giggle*) but at least he does get the news out there for everyone who listens to him to hear.

I realize that other country's have a similar health care package, however that doesn't mean it's a good thing, or even really works like it should. I personally am against anything that takes my rights away, especially if it will mean that just because I'm a nobody, who is aging and is in an accident (or just needs a Dr's help), I may not get the care I should have, cause I would probably die in the next year or so anyway. That's just sad, and is a slap in the face to the older generation, who deserves to be respected and cared for, since after all they cared for us, when they were younger. I would have to ask what the politicians were thinking, eventually THEY will be older too, but then I realized that they of course would get special treatment, after all THEY are somebody.

PS - Ok, I promise I won't do to many posts about politics, especially since it's not something I really know to much about...or care to for that mater! :)

I don't get much into politics either... But that just makes me sick... They would actually deny someone medical attention, due to their age? That's just insane!

    I knew I didn't like Obmama. *sigh*

    I do have a non-polital question...

Was it you that told me about a place to order digi-scrap books that give you unlimited pages? (Unlike Shutterfly, where you can't go past 101) ... If it was you, where was that site? I can't remember for the life of me! *sigh*

    *hugs*
