DH loves to scrounge things for free...to find something he can use that someone else isn't using and ask them if they want to get rid of it. Mainly, till lately, that has been things like old buildings that he can tear down so he can reuse the supplies to build some sheds for his animals, or old implements that he can modify for his own use, or even an old corn crib that isn't being used anymore. Lately however it's not just those kinds of things he's been getting, he has been getting free goats too...which is way more interesting to me! LOL
Today we got a call from the lady we got the last ones from, she had some more for us...including a milking nanny (doe for those politically correct folks out there). So since we can't pass up milkers...we went and got her and 7 more bottle babies today, three of which are newborns (top photo being one of the newborns) This 2nd photo is a photo of my favorite of the Alpine billies (bucks) that we brought home today, he is a little older, still needing fed milk, but old enough to be out with the ones we brought home a few weeks ago...and OH SO PRETTY! We both just LOVE his coloring, I especially love the black legs.
The three newborns are in a tote in our kitchen at the moment...making the dogs crazy, they keep wanting to go in there and see them, we had to shut the door or they would bug them all the time. LOL I'm hoping we can get some sleep tonight, but we will see. You can see more photos on Flicker...two of which show our Doxie's looking over the edge of the tote at the three babies...if you are interested of course. LOL
I'm looking forward to the time all the babies can be weaned, because this new nanny she gave us today, is suppose to give a gallon of milk, twice a day. She said she milked her some before we got her, because she was tight, and she wanted to make sure we could milk her this evening once we got home...so she said she milked her half way out, DH said he got a half gallon from her this evening....so we may actually get that much from her, we will see how it goes tomorrow. If so this is the most of any goat we have so far...and ohhh just think of how much cheese we could make, once we can start saving all our milk for OUR use...instead of the little cuties out in the barn! LOL Yep, looking forward to late spring or early summer!!! LOL
Anyway I just had to bore you all with more photos of goats! LOL I hope everyone is having a good weekend, it's been nice here so far but I think it's suppose to rain the next couple of days, so I guess I won't be out taking photo's of babies...course DH does say we will have the three newborns inside for a couple days, cause they are really tiny, he wants them to get a good start before they go outside, so if I'm inclined to I guess I could get some more of them. LOL Oh the joys of living on a farm...bottle babies in your kitchen, I can cuddle them whenever I want! :)
And here I was thinking I needed to get some work done on a kit...we will see if I can. *giggle*
I think Galen is going to be very busy feeding baby goats. They sure are cute.

Oh Deb, the babies are SO adorable!!! Makes me want to get a few, LOL. I'm sure I don't need any with all the animals we have already, my girls keep me busy enough. :) So glad you are enjoying spring and I hope you have a lovely Easter weekend even if it rains. The rain will just make it turn green faster, (I so wish it would rain here). I went up to my parents for a while and was impressed when I got home to find a lot of the snow has melted in our yard.
ReplyDeleteYour last pages of Kali are gorgeous. The extractions look great. Maybe I'll finally have some time to get some pages done this week. I sure hope so, I miss the creative outlet. Looking forward to seeing a new kit from you. Take care!
