Happy Mothers Day!!

Neighbor's Lilac

I just want to say Happy Mothers day to my wonderful Mom, I've been so lucky to have such a loving, caring Mom and I am grateful every day of my life for her. I love you Mom and I hope you have a Great day! Happy Mothers Day!! (To all of the Mom's who are reading this, not just my own!!)

That first photo was one I took a while back of the neighbor's lilacs. I'd never seen a double one like this, so had to get some photo's. They said we could dig up some of the baby lilacs that are growing under their bush and move them to our farm...so hopefully we can do that soon, I'd love to have some of these too!! LOL For some reason the lilacs just said "Mom" to me, so I had to use them on my Mothers Day post. :)

Mother & Son

Speaking of Mothers, this photo shows Minqua the dog we got for my brother so hopefully he (or my dad) won't be loosing any more animals, and her son, our new puppy who we have decided to call Shadow. Now the reason we are calling him that isn't because he likes to follow us around...or even because he "shadow's" the goats, but because he is forever looking for a shadow to lay down in...either ours, one of the goats, or the shadow cast by the barn if it's early enough in the day. It's kinda funny sometimes, like here...

Shade lover

he went and lay down right behind one of the kids, so his head at least was in a little bit of shadow...not that it lasted long, because the goat moved shortly after, but he tried...then once the goat moved he got up and found one somewhere else. So we finally have a name for our puppy, we have been trying to think of one since we got him, and thought of and discarded several...till this one came to us and it seemed to fit him perfectly. I should have thought of it sooner, since my friend Jamie (Shadow Scraps) told me about a dog she used to have named that, but...I'm kinda slow. LOL

We had an interesting thing happen this evening that proved once again that these wonderful guard dogs are worth having around with animals...and proved that Minqua would be a good dog for my brother too.

We were sitting in the living room watching TV, and had just finished an episode, ready to start another when I head a dog barking. It's not unusual to hear them barking....at night, but they don't do a lot of it during the day, so I turned and looked out the window that was behind my chair and saw Minqua standing in the pasture as close to the house as she could get, barking and looking towards the house. That was odd, so I thought something had to be wrong so I said something to DH, who got up and went out onto the porch to see if he could see anything.

Pretty soon he came back in, got his shoes on and went on to the barn, so I put mine on and followed him. When I got half way to the barn I saw that Star was out of the fence so I knew that they had been barking to let us know. I went on out and told them they were good girls and DH said when he went out onto the porch he heard Yani barking then too, and once she saw him (she was still over in the barn yard) she turned and went over toward where Star was out at, as if to show us what was wrong. It's like she sent Minqua over to a closer more visible spot to try to get our attention and she stayed to watch Star and to point her out, once we came to see what was wrong.

We praised them bunches and even Shadow got some praise and pats, because DH said he heard him barking too. Then I came in and called my brother and said I just didn't know if we could let Minqua go! *giggle* I was joking of course, she is his...although I love how her and Yani teamed up tonight. Hopefully when Shadow gets older he will work good with Yani, like his Mom did, although they won't always be together, because we separate the goats sometimes, so he will be with one group, and Yani with another, but at times they may be.

Anyway I just had to share another story of why we like having these LGD's. I better get to bed, it's way past my bedtime here! LOL Have a great weekend and again....Happy Mothers Day!!!

  2. Shadow is so cute! ... I love that he loves shadows. That's the opposite from our cats, who always search out the sunshine!
