Kali's Graduation Weekend - Pt 4 The Party
I think everyone had a lot of fun at Kali's Graduation party on the Sat. afternoon before her graduation. It was good to see most of her Mom's side of the family show up, her Mom didn't and one of her Mom's sisters couldn't because she had to work, as well as her Mom's brother but the other sister and family as well as the DH of the sister who had to work was there with his two daughters. Of course Kali's Grandparents were there as well, which made it great for getting some photos of most of her family enjoying time together with her. It was a lovely afternoon and we sat around talking for most of it.
It turned out that both of her Grandmothers made her a quilt for Graduation, my Mom made the one below...
...she made a variation of a log cabin quilt I think, with a square with appliqued tulips on it. She has worked long and hard on it, and while it wasn't totally finished it was close. It's really a pretty quilt, and I think the colors are perfect for Kali, cause she loves pink and lime green.
As you can see her Grandmothers know this, because her other Grandmother made the one below in pink and lime green too! LOL
On this quilt she used some of the LO's I made for Kali's book and printed them onto a special fabric made just for something like this. In fact I first got the idea to do a book for Kali, because she asked if I could do some LO's for her, so she could do the quilt. I had just gotten finished with the book for my parents 40th anniversary, and so when she asked for some LO's I thought I could add to it and make a book too...course then I get to looking at all the photos and realized it would have LOTS of page, I wondered if I could get it done in time. LOL Anyway I loved that she brought the quilt over so I could see it at the party, I think it turned out great too.
My Dad gave her one of his larger jewelry cabinets that he makes (and sells on etsy), and she was pleased because she said she had been wanting one of his larger ones.
Besides the book I am doing for her, we also got her the pink roses that are on the cake table and gave her some money, that along with her getting some money from other relatives should help her get some stuff for the new laptop her Dad bought her for Graduation, and give her some spending money on her Florida vacation that she is on right now with one of her other Aunts.
Here are a few of the family photos I took.
Her Mom's side of the family.
Her Dad & Clara.
Her with her other Grandparents (my parents).
She had just got back the day before from her Senior Trip and was showing us the photo's she had on her camera. Several of the people gathered around my Dad's computer to see them and I snapped a photo of them.
She stood there telling about them and her Uncle's enjoyed teasing her.
All in all it was fun, I've always liked her Mom's family so was glad they got to come over too. It would have been nice to have had it together after the graduation as originally planned, but in the long run this worked out much better...if nothing else it let us get back home after the graduation to do the milking and feed the bottle babies on time...which wouldn't have happened had we gone to the party planned after graduation. So as I know but usually forget when the chips are down, God works in mysterious ways and knows what is best and makes it happen. He knew this would be the better way...so he made sure it happened.
In other news we used our cream separator for the first time yesterday!!! Ok not real exciting, except to us, and especially me because I've been wanting to try some goat milk cream since the store bought cream doesn't agree with me but I just had to share that little tidbit. LOL We also made our first cheese of the year, it's different using the milk after the cream has been taken out of it, but it's still good. Naturally I kinda like it better with the cream still in it, but not enough so to want to loose having the cream for things that we need cream for...like DH's wonderful Alfredo sauce!! There is a photo of DH being silly along with one of the jar of cream on DH's blog if you are interested. One of these days I'm going to make me some goat milk butter out of the cream...I've never had goat butter so it would be nice to try some.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend...or are having one if you got the three day weekend for Memorial Day. Have fun and stay safe if you are traveling!!
