A Lazy Saturday afternoon
Since Saturday afternoon we usually take a break, and DH was listening to his Husker Football game, I went out to see our goats and LGD's with my camera earlier this afternoon. It was a really pretty day out, with SUNSHINE!!! Yes clear sky's and lovely, beautiful sunshine. Hopefully we have several days of it this time...but I guess I won't hold my breath.
Shadow is really growing, I noticed the other day that he is about as tall as Yani is now, he still looks puppyish (is that a word?), but is getting big. I had the wrong lens on, so had a little trouble getting good photos, because when I'm out there they both want to be right next to me...which makes it hard to get photos of them. LOL They both LOVE attention.
Once I had been there for a little while, Yani went down to the creek (which was not to far behind me) to get a drink. I was able to get a few photos then of Shadow, cause he had laid down. Then I started wondering why Yani wasn't back yet, since I expected her to come back and put her head under my hand expecting to be pet. I walked over where I could see her and saw her playing with something. She would toss it and paw it and snap at it and eventually lay down and did it to...as you can see in the above photo. I thought her expression was to funny.
I eventually saw it was probably a crawdad...but didn't know for sure till Shadow got ahold of it and brought it closer to me...I didn't want to get down in the swampy creek bed, so couldn't get real close to where Yani was. At first Yani would growl at Shadow and not let him have it, but eventually she lost interest and he took it and ran. LOL
It really grossed me out, I hate those things...but loved watching them play with it at a distance, while they were bouncing around with it. LOL There are a couple more photos where you can see it better on flicker...but I couldn't bring myself to put them here for you to be grossed out with too. If you want to see them you can see one here and another of DH holding all that is left of it here.
Belle has sure gotten a nice fat tummy on her. I hadn't been this close to her for a while, and walked over to see the cows when DH came out to join me this afternoon and was surprised to see how fat she had gotten. DH thinks it could have something to do with a new kind of feed he got a few weeks ago for the calves, but we don't know for sure if it's that or the corn stalks he has been feeding them every day. LOL They do love their corn stalks.
Well I've had a nice afternoon, but better get off here. We are expecting my brother any time now, so I should see if supper is heating up in the crock pot nicely or not. LOL (hmmmm leftover Venison stew that I made yesterday with homemade bread and butter! Yummy!) I hope you are all having a great weekend...with tomorrow being the 1st, I'll be back with news about the new challenge on Blush ~n~ Dusty! Till then stay safe and enjoy your evening.
