A Butterfly Hunt
I love to try to get photos of the butterflies (or moths) we have around here, usually it's the same kinds that I see all the time, but that's ok...they are still pretty as they flutter from flower to flower. I've been to busy to do it before now this summer, (*giggle* All two days of it!) but since the humidity is down a bit today, and it wasn't in the 90's I decided to go take a break and see if I could get some photos of some.
I got interrupted when I was getting some of the Monarch butterfly, so didn't end up with getting as good of ones of it, as I would have liked to because it was gone when I went back to try for more, but I guess there is always another day. :)
I took several photos of this butterfly on some thistles DH missed in his thistle hunt...that I liked. It didn't want to give me any photos of it's wings out for the longest time, so I started telling it to spread its wings and it did! *giggle* I'm sure it wasn't cause I told it to, but...least it finally let me get some.
I guess I'll have to go hunting for other places to catch butterflies with my camera, cause I told DH I got some on the thistles and he promptly went and cut them down. Big Meany!! I know...we don't need them spreading, but the butterflies sure seem to like them, so it's kinda nice having one or two around. Shhhhh....don't tell anyone I said that! *giggle*
I got several jars of Cherry Jelly canned up the past couple days, but got stopped, cause more cherries needed to ripen. Plus yesterday afternoon we went to see the lady who AI'd Mabel, and her little mini cows. I've heard about the mini jerseys, and how "wonderful" they are, but hadn't ever seen them. Now that I have, I can't say that I think they are worth the money people want for them...yes they are smaller, but not small enough that you could manhandle them if you wanted them to go somewhere that they didn't want to go. Goats we can grab by the horn and pull them if they get out and we want them in...cows...even mini ones we couldn't do that with, as they are still quite heavy. So I think we will stick with our cuter midsized jerseys.
You can see a photo of DH standing beside one of the mini jerseys on flicker if you want...as well as several more butterfly photos! :)
No photos of the canned jelly yet...haven't had time to get the jars ready to put away. I had to make myself to out with my camera this afternoon...as I wanted a little "fun" time after having to go to the dentist this morning...that's NEVER fun, even though it was just a checkup. LOL
Anyway, I better go check and see if there are any weeds that need pulled in the beets since it's not as hot out there as it has been in the evenings lately. Summer is a busy time around here it seems. :)
I don't see too many butterflies out here... I wonder why?
ReplyDeleteI think the photos you got are wonderful!
