Apples, apples...everywhere.

AppleSauce

I don't have to many apples yet...although I am almost getting tired of them already this year, but will keep going cause we may be happy we have them later in the winter! LOL I know these apples aren't really the best for sauce...or pie for that matter, but they will work, since that's what we have.

I am not adding any sugar or anything at this time, cause if we can handle it without sugar, I'd rather eat it like that...and if I want to make it into fruit leather, I can add what I need to at that time. Needless to say, I tasted some and it seemed kinda blah but I can't say I was surprised, since the apples aren't as good as some can be, but maybe once it sits in the jar for a little while it will taste ok without adding any sugar or spices to it, if not maybe I can doctor it up a tad bit as we eat it.

It sure does take a bunch of apples to make a few qts of sauce! I'm sure thankful for my Mom's gift every time apple season comes around though...that food strainer/sauce maker thing she bought me a few years ago makes it so much easier to get the apples worked into sauce, after I've cooked them...and anything to make the canning process go faster is all right in my book.

I actually don't mind canning a little here and there, it's kind of fun, but...after a while, cutting up apples can get old, even if all I have to do is quarter them and remove spots...which is what I do for the sauce. LOL There still seems to be a lot of apples on the tree...so hopefully I can get a few more canner loads, before they all fall off and become animal food, least they don't get wasted around here, since the cows, chickens & goats love them, even if they do end up falling off the tree and getting bruised up!

On the Rascal front...he seems SOOO much BETTER!! I'm so happy that he is starting to eat again, and not throwing up much at all. He is even doing that cute little thing he does when we give him something (like a piece of apple) that he doesn't really want, but yet he doesn't want Autumn to have it. He hovers over it, till she comes to try to get it and then he snatches it up and slowly eats it. It's hard to describe, but it's SO funny to watch and he gets a laugh out of us, ever time he does it...which is only when he is in a playful mood. LOL DH said he even brought a toy into his office to play with, and he has to be feeling better to do that...cause he doesn't actually play with toys all that often anymore. It's so good to see him feeling better...Praise God!!

Tractor Buddy however...is missing again. I've been so worried about Rascal I haven't thought much about her being gone again, so guess there is something good that came out of Rascal being sick...it helped me not worry about the cat going missing again, and now we just figure she won't be back since she has been gone for a while now. Anyone have any calico kittens they want to get rid of? We are going to be looking for some! LOL

After not getting much rain for a week or two...or so...it's raining today! I know it's odd that I'm happy about that, but we were needing it again, even though we had so much this year. Course that means it's a dreary day, but...that's ok, least it's not hot, in fact I don't think it's made it out of the 60's yet today, and that's a really NICE break from those 100+ temps of the past couple weeks. (least it is for us since we prefer it cooler LOL)

I had to chuckle cause yesterday my Mom had to go do some "back to school" shopping! *giggle* It's been years since she had that to do, but she went with my niece yesterday so she could get some things she needed since her 2nd year of college is about to start. I graduated in "88" and I don't think Mom has done the "back to school" thing since then...but since Kali is living with her Dad now (which is on the same property as my parents) Mom gets to see her a little more and get in on that kinda thing. It just struck me as funny that after all these years she had to do it again. *giggle* (what can I say...it doesn't take all that much to keep me entertained. LOL)

Ok, I better go...DH mentioned that my posts have been LONG lately, so guess I should try to post more often, so I have less to say in each one...it just doesn't seem to happen, so I ramble on and on till I run out of things to say or have to go do something else. Sorry! LOL If you want more interesting posts....guess you will have to visit DH's blog, cause they are usually more interesting and he is a much better writer. I just blog cause I like to write...and it keeps kind of a record of what is going on in our life, in case I want it for later...well some of what is going on anyway. :)

Have a great rest of the week!

My posts have become LONG too... I just get too lazy to post every day, and it takes a lot of writing to catch up on a weeks worth of stuff. *lol*
