Our Hillbilly Home - Inside the Cabin

Hillbilly Hill - Cabin Living room

This is a story about how we got started with our farm several years ago...I was chatting with a friend one day and talking about how we got our house, and she wanted to see some photos so I decided to write the story for my blog and share photos instead of trying to e-mail a bunch to her. If you missed the first part of this story, you can find the links to all the parts on my links page.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Opposite the "Kitchen" in the main room of the cabin, we had our living area, which consisted of a recliner we found at a garage sale for cheap...

...and an old day bed we had. My Mom made some pillows for the daybed, to make it pretty and more comfortable to sit on, so we could use it like a couch yet have an extra bed for company. It had a trundle under it so we had room for two extra people to have a bed.

In the other room we had our bed along with a couple old dressers a sister-in-law gave us...a medicine cabinet with a mirror on it and a shelf for a few books (we both love books, so naturally had to have some down there). The other side of the room had a closet, and storage for things we wanted at the farm.

All in all we had a comfy little home on the farm which we enjoyed visiting when we had a spare moment in our travels around the Midwest. Other than the wintertime (when we didn't spend quite as much time there...although did some), I think we spent more time at our farm than we did at home, because we loved the country and had grown to almost hate the nosey little town we lived in. LOL Besides there was always something that needed done on the farm...getting drywall up in the cabin...cutting the scrub cedars that were taking over the pastures on our farm...or fencing, just to name a few.

Stay tuned for the surprise we got in 2003...

...next time on "Our Hillbilly Home".

More will come once I get the photos gathered, and words written...please forgive the fact that I'm clearly NOT a "writer" AND the time it could take for the next part to show up...a day, a week, a month or... God forbid... a year.
Next installment is here.

  1. Looks cozy!

Oh... I tried the recipe for homemade pizza that you had (that included the sauce), and it was a HUGE hit with the family! Our favorite pizza has always been Pizza Hut, and Joe and Jared both said that it was better than Pizza Hut. :)

    Thanks for the recipe!

  2. Oh good, I'm so glad you liked it, I've never been really fond of Pizza Huts pizza, so I'd have to agree with you there, it is better than theirs...if I do say so myself. *giggle*
