DH update

Keeping Busy

It's been a little over a month since DH had his back surgery and he is doing ever so much better! He still can't do a lot of things, but his pain level has already showed improvement over before surgery, and he is even able to walk a little further without his walking stick already!!

He's had to use a walking stick for several years now, if he went very far at all, always having it when he was outside, but now, he can do some of his outside walking without it...if he is just in the front yard, between the house and barn.

Don't get me wrong, he does still have some pain, and does still take one pain pill a day, but from what the people at the VA have said, that's still WAY better than most people are doing in this amount of time. He called with a question the other day, and I guess they said most people are asking if they can walk without a walker at this stage, so the fact that he can sometimes not even use a stick is remarkable! :-))

I'm just hoping he isn't overdoing, when I'm not looking, but since he doesn't seem to be in a lot of extra pain, I'm figuring he must be doing ok. He doesn't do a lot of bending or lifting yet, but as long as something doesn't cause him pain, or make him bend to much or lift...or twist, he is trying to get back into doing more around the farm, although mostly it's just cleaning up a little here and there and playing with his tractors...when he isn't helping me can that is. LOL

I'm so thankful he is doing so well so far, and am praying he continues to surprise us all with how quickly he heals and improves. He still has a long road to go, before he resumes a heavier workload, but least he is doing better than expected so far! Praise God!!!!! :-))

  1. That's just wonderful! It's so good to hear of somebody having really good results after having back surgery. And to hear how he's challenging himself to get off the pain meds... WOW! Major Kudos to him for that one, Deb. Too many folks fall prey to becoming addicted. And the downhill spiral never ends. You're a lucky woman, Girlie! Strong man with a strong will to heal!!

  2. Oh I so agree, I'm a lucky LUCKY woman to have a Man like him!!! I'm so glad he is able to get off the pain meds faster than most too, they scare me...although most meds do so thats nothing new. LOL I have to say I was really worried about back surgery, cause I heard to many times it didn't work or got worse, but thankfully God is with my Man, and helped it get better, I pray it continues. :-))
